When hitting a bump on the highway (for example- bridge seams) at highway speeds (55 mph+) the Jeep will shudder and shake, particularly the steering wheel & front end at times; sometimes when hitting a series of bumps the shuddering will intensify and is more difficult to stop. The only way to stop the shuddering is to slow down to speeds that are potentially unsafe on the highway - <30 mph.

I purchased this 2018 unlimited in June, brand new, with under 500 miles it took to drive it from mi. At approx. 15,000 miles I heard a rattle, that sounded like a loose heat shield, took it in and techs found nothing, said no heat shields. Within about 2 weeks I was driving on the highway, at highway speed, as I came over bridge crossings my Jeep would shake uncontrollably and I was not able to steer. At first it would only happen occassionally, then it got worse, to the point of moving out of the lane I was driving in and into the berm and/or into the lane next to me. The whole Jeep would shake uncontrollably for longer than 1-3 minutes. I did notice that if crossing over bridges in a straight away, the wobble was less severe than if I was in a slight curve, or angle. Also, I did notice that if I took my foot off the gas pedal before, during and for a short period after bridges, the Jeep doesn't have the wobble as often. This may need to be checked, the techs are replacing parts they are being told to by Jeep, but Jeep doesn't know what is causing the death wobble, maybe it isn't directly relayed to only the front steering damper.

When traveling highway speeds typically between 70-75 and the Jeep hits a bump. The entire car wobbles fairly significantly for a second or two. It stops wobbling when you take foot off the accelerator. The dealer examined the car and believes it to be safe. I have driven many Jeep over the years and never experienced this. It does not seem safe.

On 10-10-18 (15000miles) I started to experience a death wobble that was getting worse very quickly. I took it to my dealership and they had it for 31 days. They said it was a problem in one of my tires. I drove it 200 more miles and it started again. I called them back and they told me that crystler said there was no fix for it and it was still safe. As it continued to get worse, I called crystler, and they had their tech reach out to my dealership (took 3 weeks). They said they needed to install an after market stabalizer bar, which they did - and as I drove away and on to the interstate the Jeep went violently out of control and I was almost hit by 4-5 other vehicles on the interstate. I was almost killled. I drove right back to the dealership and explained as I was shaking with tears from fear. This has been almost 2 months and they are refusing to give me a loaner. My responses and lack of urgency on this is beyond legal. I am not safe in a $50K brand new vehicle. Please someone do something about this very soon, it isn't just Jeep owners, it is whomever might be driving around them on interstates and highways.

Steering loose or not tight. Vehicle wanders all over the road. Will not track straight. Has to much play in the steering. You can move the steering wheel back and forth about one inch and no response in the steering. Always chasing the vehicle to keep in on the road.

I made an error on the dates on my earlier submission, compkaint number 11155434. In the 4th sentence I said 10/8, it should be 11/8. in the 5th sentence I said 10/9, it should be 11/9. in the 6th sentence I said 10/10, it should be 11/10. I purchased my sahara from auto world on a fully paid cash basis as a new vehicle under full factory warranty on 9/1/2018. The events reported were first experienced on 10/27/2018 although the death wobble has happened multiple times since 10/27/2018. Auto world has had my car in its shop since 10/29/2018 for all but the late afternoon of 11/8, 11/9 and the morning of 11/10. Auto world still has my car. I can not and will not drive my paid for car with my grand children or anyone else in the car due to the gravity of the problem and safety concerns.

My 2 month old sahara has experienced violent shaking and vibrations through the steering/suspension system on multiple occasions. The car is not safe to drive. I delivered my sahara to the dealer, auto world of petaluma on 10/29. Auto world kept my car to address the problem returning it after replacing the tires on 10/8. on 10/9 my car again experienced what I now know is called 'death wobble.' I took my car out on the morning of 10/10 and again experienced 'death wobble.' Because auto world told me it could not replicate the death wobble in my car I took it out on the freeway and made two video tapes of the steering wheel during death wobble. I then returned my car to the service manager at auto world and showed him the videos. The service manager told me he after seeing the video that he thought Jeep had resolved the death wobble problem with Jeep's years ago. That was the first time I had heard the term death wobble. I told the manager where to take the car to experience death wobble. Death wobble initiated in my car while traveling at freeway speeds when encountering any type of change of conditions like going from an asphalt to concrete surface at a bridge overpass/underpass on the freeway. After returning my car to the service manager on 11/10 I was directed to several different Jeep complaint teams. I was altimately put in contact with representative Ford from the Jeep resolution team in dallas Texas. Ford told me to be patient as it would take him 1 to 30 days to address my claim. I originally spoke with Ford almost 3 weeks ago. I volunteered to send him my videos and emails with the dealer however he declined to accept them and would not give me contact information where I could send the material I had accumulated. Despite multiple calls to Ford I have not heard from him since 11/20. My car for which I paid cash is not safe to drive.

Once my 2018 Jeep Wrangler hit over 16.5K miles, when driving over 60 mph and hit a bump in the road, the steering wheel/wheels shake vigorously and the only way to stop is to bring the speed below 60 mph, which is very unsafe when driving on the highway. I am also now noticing that the steering/suspension feels different when traveling on secondary roads when hitting bumps on the road. This started 2 weeks ago was minor and is continuing to get worse.

UA5/NHTSA 18V-675 track bar weld recall. I had the required inspection done two weeks ago, but dealer won't do the welding. I have been trying to make Jeep customer service make the local dealer fix this very serious issue, but nothing happens. I've even tried a dealer 1 hour 40 minute drive from me here in Arizona, they won't do it either.

Extreme wobble and shaking at highway speeds which continues well past the road imperfections that caused the specific type of suspension travel. Started under 1000 miles. Happens several times every workday - can be replicated. This vehicle is completely stock and brand new. If driving around a slight turn with small bumps the vehicle starts shaking violently and keeps shaking for 20-30 seconds until the traveling speed is reduced to 50 mph which is not a safe speed at times. 2 steady hands must be on the steering wheel to maintain control and changing lanes is not possible. Had to make an avoidance maneuver during the shaking and almost lost control while traveling 60 mph. This car is not safe to operate and the problem happens multiple times per day. Unknown components and parts cause the extreme shaking/wobbling. This statement is to document the problem; there will be videos and repair invoices in the future but several dealerships have told me there are no fixes for the problem called death wobble. I am currently on a "waiting list" for a repair attempt. I will call for an update with the dealership 11/30/18. The tires are stock and at proper pressure. There have been no modifications to the vehicle.

Hi, I purchased a 2018 Jeep Wrangler jlu new from you dealership and I have been having several significant issues with it recently. The most concerning is several issues with the steering. At highway speeds if you hit a bump like an expansion joint ; the steering wheel shakes aggressively and causes you to temporarily lose control of the Jeep and you have to slow down for it to self correct. It is similar to death wobble in a lifted Jeep but this one is stock. Also, with the colder weather the steering wheel is not turning freely at highway speeds. It is almost as if the power steering randomly turns off but the wheel is even more difficult to turn. The steering goes back to normal at slow speeds. And finally the radio and touch screen are not working properly. The fm radio randomly completely loses signal and can not find stations. Randomly even with the volume all the way up to 30 you can barely hear the radio. Several times the screen has made a pop noise and then just turned off. The blue tooth intermittently fails.

Around 7000 miles we started to get a vibration that would last till we slowed down every time we hit a bump with our Wrangler jl at highway speed. It has since turned into a violent shake that will literally rattle your teeth. You can feel the shake throughout the whole care and especially on the wheel. The bump in road does not have to be big and can be as small as the place where the road connects to an overpass. Having to slow down to around 40 mph to get it to stop when all other traffic is traveling 60+ mph is scary and we are now worried for our safety. Have taken the vehicle in to our Jeep dealer 3 times, but they have not been able to resolve the issue. They did say that they currently have 3 other jl Wrangler experiencing the same problem and they have yet to find a solution.
