At highway speeds (60-80mph) the vehicle shakes violently after going over a bump or deformity in the road. Has occurred on multiple occasions. Everything shakes not just the steering wheel. Lasts until vehicle speed reduces.

At highway speeds, 3 times now the steering wheel begins to shake quite violently and impeded one's ability to control the car. This condition appears to last until speed is significantly reduced. The Jeep Wrangler 4 door is a 2018 with less than 6K miles.

Vehicle purchased new from dealership. Within first 100 miles was traveling down hwy at approximately 70 miles per hour, I hit a bump in the road while bearing left. Truck started shaking violently. Steering wheel same. As truck slowed down shaking stopped... dealer replaced stability bar and stated problem was corrected... within first week of truck being returned, I was traveling on hwy, this time hit a bump in road while bearing right. Truck started shaking violently to the point I barely avoided an accident with a vehicle to my front and another to my side... vehicle was returned to dealership, this time spoke with general manager, was told as of yet their is no solution. Corporate will have to recommend a fix. I've owned this vehicle for approx 1 month and 2 weeks. It's been in dealers possession for this and numerous other problems for more than half that time. At time of first repair I asked dealership for repair paperwork, was told it was not ready, it would be mailed to me. At time of second I am still awaiting documentation from first incident which has still not been provided. First incident occurred 1/24/19. Dealer kept vehicle for approximately 20 days. Second incident occurred morning of 2/26/19 as of this writing.

I have already filed one complaint on this and heard nothing. This is the second time I have had my 2018 Wrangler into the shop for repair for the same issue of the "death wobble" (when hitting a bump on the highway it goes into a terrible wobble you must slow way down for). No recall and still having problems. The last time it was in the shop recently it was in there for 4 weeks. This is riciculous!

Going approximately 70 mph on the freeway my Jeep very suddenly began to shake/vibrate very violently. Extremely difficult to maintain control. Felt like the car was going to come apart/tires were going to fall off. After slowing down to maybe 30 mph the shaking resolved. Jeep has approximately 5800 miles on it.

Wrangler

  • 2,000 miles
Leased the Jeep Wrangler jl in October 2019. Within 3 weeks, the "Jeep wobble" occurred on the highway at a speed of 65 mph. Going over a bridge, the car hit a connector in road and started shaking violently. I was in the left lane and had to slow the car down immediately as it felt out of control, causing cars behind me to brake. I moved over a lane and the car stopped shaking once I slowed down below 50mph. I brought the car in to dealership and was told it's not under recall and it's not a safety issue. I completely disagree that it's not a safety issue as dodging cars on the highway in order to slow my car down while it shakes violently is clearly a safety issue for everyone on the road. The dealership installed a dampener. I finally got the car back after a week and within days, the same thing happened on the highway. I brought the car back in to the dealership where I was told they were contacting Chrysler to see if they installed the part correctly. My car was there for another week while they waited for Chrysler to return their phone call. They installed a stronger part, I was told and then finally had my car back. Within a couple of weeks, the wobble happened again. I dropped the car back at the dealership last week on 2/13 where it remains. I have not received word on what is being done at this point. Extremely frustrating as we are leasing this car and it's been at the dealership for almost 4 weeks total, which is one month payment without me even driving the car. We are looking into lemon law since this particular vehicle is not part of any recall. Again, this is a major safety concern for the driver and passengers in the car. I have 2 kids that travel with me in that Jeep and am never comfortable driving on the highway as I never know when that violent shake will happen.

When traveling above 70mph and hitting a rough place on the road the steering shakes violently including the dash until you slow down to 40mph. This has happened 6+ times now with the local deal ship not knowing how to fix. We were almost rear ended because of this. And thank goodness their wasn't an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder. We have a video of this happening

Vehicle shakes and vibrates at highway speeds after a bump in the road is hit. Once it was so violently and continuous that I had to pull over and stop the vehicle so the shaking would stop. I was told this is "death wobble" a known issue in Jeep vehicles. Because I lease this 2018 Wrangler, I'd like know if there is a lemon law protecting me as a leasor so that I may exit my lease.

Death wobble. When hitting a bump at highway speeds, the steering wheel will shake side to side violently until the Jeep has slowed to around 40-45 mph. Steering is still possible but very limited. This happens when going straight or during turns at 55+ mph. This started when the vehicle had 3,800 miles. I have had the Jeep into the dealer 3 times. The steering stabilizer was replaced, then the tires were balanced. Now they are investigating tie rod ends and other possible causes.

When traveling on the highway going approximately 70 mph I hit a bump causing both my front tires to shake uncontrollably. I had to slow down below 45mph before the shaking would stop. This happened again on my return home due to another bump on the highway. Both tires, front end, and steering wheel shake uncontrollably.

Wrangler

  • 3,000 miles
I was driving the Jeep on the highway going the speed limit of 65 mph and when changing lanes and hitting a bumpy part of the highway, the Jeep began to shake vigorously. I had to slow down to 40 mph and pull off the side of the hwy. After this incident, anytime driving the Jeep over 55 mph and hitting a bump, the Jeep would shake. I would have to slow down below the speed limit for it to regain control. The Jeep was taken into the service department and they installed a new "steering stabilizer". when traveling on the highway again going 65 mph, hitting a pothole, the Jeep began to shake again. I was able to regain control when slowing down under the speed limit to 50/55 mph. This is not acceptable for a brand new car. I should be able to go the speed limit on the highway, hit a bump, and not feel as if my life is in danger. These cars need to be recalled before someone is seriously injured including myself and my passengers.

Wrangler

  • 9,000 miles
At speeds over 45mph, that if you hit a bump, expansion joint, anything that would cause the suspension to load and unload, it goes into an immediate 'death wobble '. you cannot control steering and direction at this point. It vibrates and shakes so bad the soft top latches can become undone. Has been sitting in a dealership for 2 weeks with no answers on why. Has 10,000 miles on it but started at around 9000 miles. Nothing aftermarket on it at all.

Feb 082019

Wrangler

  • 10,000 miles
The front wheels of the vehicle often shake violently at highway speeds when the vehicle hits a small bump in the road. Often the triggering event could also be uneven or patched sections of freeway. The front end shaking is so violent, control of the vehicle is difficult. The vehicle must be slowed immediately below 50mph to stop the shaking. This will happen at least once, every time I drive on a freeway.

Experiencing the death wobble while driving at high speeds and every bump or transition from highway to the overpass I get the wobble if I let off the gas it evens back out. I've also been experiencing some play in my steering wheel since I picked it up from the repair. I took it in for repair 12/12/18 (invoice 557959) and they replaced the steering damper. Had it back less than a month and the death wobble was back. Dropped it off 2 days ago just got a call and the steering damper is bad again and both tie rods are bad. It's less than a year old. I called back to have them check the track bar weld just in case since some have a recall on them.

problem #103

Dec 012018

Wrangler

  • 3,000 miles
Excessive / severe front wheel shake when hitting bumps, pot holes, etc. Front wheels, along with the steering wheel will shake severely when hitting bumps at highway speeds. Vehicle control is greatly impacted. Front wheels and steering wheel will not stop shaking until vehicle is nearly brought to a complete stop. Ability to keep control of the vehicle and stay within your lane requires extreme/extended braking at highway speeds. Vehicle has been service by an authorized Jeep service department. Jeep recommended part(s) were replaced but the problem still exists.
