The power steering went out while driving, check engine light came on, ABS Service, Service Shifter, Start/Stop unavailable, Service 4wd, Auto Park Disabled, Blind Spot Alert, Electronic Stability Control Service, Parking Sense Off. I could not shift out of Park. Many people are having this problem with their 2018 Wrangler JL and JLU and later models. All you have to do is Google this or go to YouTube to see. It may be a faulty ECU. In any case, this is a problem and a safety hazard.

My Jeep has been having electrical problems many warnings across the dash including lost communication with ABS module this has been going on for about a month sometimes the fault won-??t let the Jeep go into gear I brought it to the local dealership they had it for the entire day and was told they can-??t find anything and that it would actually have to be happening for them to figure it out yesterday I was driving with my kids in the Jeep and the electrical want crazy and then I lost total steering while doing 55 miles per hour After my heart went through my chest I was able to get the vehicle stopped so according to my Jeep dealer I need to be in a near death crash in order for them to figure out the problem I wonder if any unexplained deaths involving newer Jeep Wrangler could be attributed to these electrical issues

While driving at low speed in heavy rain vehicle lost power steering, engine service light, anti lock brake failure, skid control. Had to remove vehicle from roadway and restart engine, which corrected steering failure. Engine service light remained on. Vehicle is garaged. After being in garage for 24hrs engine service went out. Contacted dealer and was given appointment. Recommended not drive vehicle until service. Vehicle has 18,000 miles on it. Was told by dealer that battery failed which is tired into the crawl feature of the of the Rubicon 2.0 liter engine with crawl electric motor. Also told that there were many service bulletins.

On multiple occasions this Jeep has a tendency to wander into the adjacent lane, especially on curves. It is slow to respond to steering corrections when this happens. Any driving of the vehicle requires constant steering corrections to keep it in a straight line At highway speeds a small bump in the road causes the Jeep to wander into the next lane or to start to fishtail. I'm now scared to drive it on the highway and feel it's an accident waiting to happen.

Purchased slightly used with only 34,387 miles. When driving at a higher rate is speed (62 or more) if the vehicle hits a bump (like when crossing the threshold of a bridge or hitting a bump in the road while in a turn) the passenger side Suspension shakes uncontrollably. As per news articles, Fiat Chrysler Automotive is aware and recommends a new steering bump. This seems to be a temporary solution, part easily and quickly wears out and must be replaced. Mechanic state that is not a proper solution. To pay this type of money for a vehicle and then repair bills only to have to repeat. Major concern is when driving on a highway or freeway you can-??t always safely slow down in traffic, especially with semi trucks.

In the middle of the intersection, the power steering turned off and the steering wheel locked. I could not move the steering. All dashboard lights came on as well as the emergency brakes. The gear shift also locked and refused to shift into any toner gear. The vehicle was completely disabled and would not restart. This is the 5 time this has happened. I took it to get serviced at my local jeep Chrysler dodge dealership and I am still receiving the same issue.

The steering wheel is loose/has too much play. The Jeep wanders when holding the wheel straight. When driving, turning the wheel 2-3 inches in either direction produced not movement at all in my tires. This was not an issue before steering recalls were done. Unfortunately, with Covid and working from home, I did not drive a lot, and definitely not need to take it on highway. April 9th was the first time taking it on the highway for a trip (Connecticut to Kentucky). I did not make it. I was in an accident when a vehicle appeared to be to coming to close. I recall turning the wheel and not getting any response-??then jerking more out of fear which was to much and I ended up smashing into a guardrail. I had to leave it in Pennsylvania at a collision center for repairs. May 26 - Can repairs complete so I picked it up in PA and drove to Louisville. A 7hr trip took 2-days. I has to drive slow, and so way could I drive it while it was raining. It was wandering and all over the highway and the steering was not responsive. June 3 -I brought it into Cross Jeep as soon as they had an opening. They rotated the tire and test drive it. I was told they did not notice anything out of the ordinary. The loose steering is how Jeeps drive. I was told to take it home and see how things were after the tire rotation. June 6 - First thing Monday I called to bring Jeep back in because it was driving the same. I left message with the answering service and I texted, but was unable to reach someone to make an appointment. June 7 - Got in touch with service and scheduled and appointment for their soonest opening (June 13) June 13 - Brought Jeep in and explained loose Staring and wandering is still an issue in the vehicle does not feel safe and is not safe because it caused me to crash. I showed them a video on the loose steering. I was told there is nothing they can do. That-??s how -??Jeeps-?? drive. I insisted they look further and I also file a complaint with Jeep.

The Jeep Wrangler JL Sport S (2018), has been having steering issues (death wobble) while driving at highway speeds whenever it encounters a bump or potholes at speeds greater than 60mph. The only remedy is to break and slow down to 40mph, this poses a safety hazard on interstates and highways as the vehicles behind have limited time to react and operating this vehicle while it is vibrating is extremely hard and dangerous in traffic. Myself and my wife have been victims of several road rash incidents as the vehicle's behind don't know what is going on when we slow down to stop vibrating, they have honked us and have even followed my wife for 5 miles harassing her on the interstate. We have an infant at home and are concerned for his safety as he travels with us in the Jeep. The car dealer continues to recommend replacing the "steering dampener" as a remedy but having replaced it twice has not fixed the issue. We need FCA to fix this as soon as possible as operating this vehicle in this condition is not acceptable.

Electrical system failure. All indicator lights come on and all safety feature warning lights activate. Automobile loses power and power steering stops working. Automobile then veered right into traffic other lanes of traffic on freeway. The problem has been confirmed by Ken Ganley Chrysler. The vehicle was inspected by Ken Ganley Automotive. Has been taken to the repair shop 4 times. Same problem continues to happen. Several warning lights came on all at once and vehicle lost power steering causing vehicle to veer right abruptly. Problem first occurred at the beginning of April 2022.

I was driving my wife's vehicle at the time of this incident. While driving at highway speeds (55+ mph) I went over a cracked/uneven section of the roadway. The steering column began to vibrate and jump in my hands. The front wheels were rattling and bouncing, making it difficult to control the steering path of the vehicle. It was only after slowing down the speed of the vehicle that the rattling / jumping of the steering column stopped. The uneven section of road I had gone over hadn't been that severe enough, I thought, to cause any damage. I drive over that same route several times a week and it was no different than before, other than I was driving the Jeep. I asked my wife if this had ever happened to her before. She said it had, but it stopped and she thought it may just be a wearing or broken steel belted radial tire. We were getting the tires replaced soon. After getting new tires, the problem is persisting. The mechanic did not find any damaged wheels or tires, the steering didn't appear loose or damaged. After checking this site for vehicle recalls, but finding none, I was perplexed. After conducting further research I found out about the "Death Wobble" and FCA's Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 Steering Damper fix.

This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.

Recently, my daughter experienced the vehicle shaking after traveling on the beltway at the speed of 65+ MPH. She informed that she hit a pothole in the road at the high speed and the car began to shake. The history of this vehicle when I leased it new was the same. After having leased the vehicle for less than a year, I experienced the same. At that time there was a recall on the steering stabilizer (believe that was the name). I took it back to the dealership and it appeared to be resolved. I had not experienced the problem again until recently. I just took it to the dealership explaining the problem. They informed me that the steering damper design was outdated and performed a bleed out. After driving the vehicle, I experienced the same problem (traveling @ a speed of 65+ and hit an imperfection in the road). I believe that may daughter or I could lose control of the vehicle if traveling on the beltway and the vehicle shakes uncontrollably; thus, there's a lost of control of the vehicle which will cause a crash.

vehicle dash goes crazy. all warning lights come on. gauges act erratic. shifter lights blink. service abs, service traction control, service shift warnings flash. fans act erratic. power steering cuts out. when in park vehicle won't shift out of park. sometimes this happens when vehicle is first started. it is now happening while driving. this is a major safety concern since the power steering goes out while driving. i have had this vehicle to the dealership 3 times for this and they keep telling me they can't recreate the problem. when put on the scanner numerous codes come up.

Steering wheel locks up at highway speeds, making it very difficult to make any turns. This can be a life threatening issue in many circumstances. No warning lights come on. It happened to me on 03/17/22, only after a day of owning the vehicle. I found many threats online reporting the same issue. Not sure why this is not a recall yet. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/steering-wheel-locking-up.20839/

Car spontaneously begins to violently shake, primarily after traveling over a bridge-road seam or other minor bump in road surface. The shake violently rattles car left to right, violently rattles steering wheel. Occurs at 55-60 MPH and above, when travel in excess of 60 MPH car becomes consistently undriveable at posted speed. Possible to recover if can slow down below 30 MPH, typically must stop car. Safety is high risk due to high speed and very high amplitude vibration, must navigate to safety to stop car (ex: on expressway). Unsure of vehicle control in icy conditions or curves. Have had fellow expressway drivers pull over to tell me they witnessed front tires jumping up and down. Car was just inspected, new tires installed, wheels balanced. Clean bill of health, and issue began. Took to manufacturer dealer, they did not convey any knowledge of issue. However knew what I meant by "death rattle". Technician is replacing steering damper. This is a known issue to NTSA and Fiat Chrysler. While no recall, FCA has posted a consumer satisfaction notice to cover the steering damper replacement, although repair shop claims this is a courtesy extended warranty coverage. The death rattle is no-joke violent and places occupants of vehicle at risk during recovery of death rattle and renders vehicle unfit for safe travel at speeds above 50 MPH. Thought you should know.

At 40,000 miles the Service shifter warning light came on and a barrage of other lights flashed across the dash. Check engine light comes on and all of a sudden I lose all power steering and almost run off the road. The steering only comes back after shutting engine off and restarting it. It is a continuous problem with no warning as to when it will occur. I have it scheduled to go into shop on Thursday for the diagnosis. Either way it is extremely dangerous!
