The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. While driving approximately 65 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle shook profusely. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to lawless Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (888-384-4956, located at 196 lexington St, woburn, MA 01801) where it was diagnosed that the damper needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that someone would be sent to the contact's residence to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that no one was sent and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

  • 7,000 miles
Around 7000 miles we started to get a vibration that would last till we slowed down every time we hit a bump with our Wrangler jl at highway speed. It has since turned into a violent shake that will literally rattle your teeth. You can feel the shake throughout the whole care and especially on the wheel. The bump in road does not have to be big and can be as small as the place where the road connects to an overpass. Having to slow down to around 40 mph to get it to stop when all other traffic is traveling 60+ mph is scary and we are now worried for our safety. Have taken the vehicle in to our Jeep dealer 3 times, but they have not been able to resolve the issue. They did say that they currently have 3 other jl Wrangler experiencing the same problem and they have yet to find a solution.

Drove into the gas station, put my Jeep in park, put the emergency break on, turned it off and proceeded to fill up the tank, I did not top the tank off, got back in my Jeep started it back up, engine started fine, released emergency break put Jeep in drive put foot on gas to proceed out of the gas station Jeep pulled out of the gas bay and I drove forward slowly, while turning left out of the bay. I drove forward with my foot on the gas about 20 feet. All of a sudden the Jeep came to a stop and shut off while still in drive. I would press on the gas pedal to move forward and nothing would happen it just remained stationary.. all electronics still worked in the car. I put the car in park, turned on my hazards turned the Jeep off and then back on, and engine was not starting. Turned it on and off 3 more times and finally the engine started back up on the 4th time and I was able to drive away. This has not occurred again, but I have not driven it other than 20 miles back home where it now is sitting waiting to go to the Jeep dealership.

I entered a parking space and was not within the lines. I backed up about 2 feet and felt a sudden stop and 'clunk.' I could not move the shifter at all. The dash display said 'park lock.' It instructed me to turn the car of and then put it back in gear. After 3 attempts to do that (I may have been rushed the first 2 times) the I was able to put it in gear. There are fewer than 500 miles on this new vehicle. It hasn't hapened again, but this seems very dangerous. I have an appointment to take it to the dealer.

Drive train vibration most noticeable between 59 - 64 mph. Vibration in steering wheel, driver and passenger front seats, floor pans. 10/3 - 10/8/18 dealer inspected entire vehicle, balanced, road force tested tires found all within spec and balanced with no indexing required. In addition to extensive road testing, evaluation, the service department temporarily replaced 2018 jlu rubicon wheels/tires with wheels/road friendly tires from other Wrangler model and drive train vibration was still present. Dealer service shop foreman indicated transmission, torque converter or drive shaft out of balance but needed guidance from Chrysler engineering on next steps and proposed resolution. Met with Chrysler engineering at dealership service department 10/22/18 and Chrysler engineer stated it's the tires and after another balance and road force test informed me everything was within specifications and they rotated tires front to back. No changes to problem and vibration still exists. I've had the tires/wheels balanced and road force tested by an independent 3rd party and now twice by the dealership. Vehicle is less than 2 months old and 1300 miles.

Most recent incident: Sunday near frankfurt airport the error code read " service shifter" and the orange service engine light came on while driving. I drove into the car park then tried to shift from drive to park and the Jeep locked in neutral. The Jeep locked up as if it was in park so we could not push or pull the vehicle. I also could not turn the vehicle off completely. The interior lights were on and I could not turn them off via the ignition. This is why the battery was drained. The car sat since Sunday on until it was towed and your staff was able to look at it. Pictures will follow in the next email. Please pull entire diagnostic history if possible. First incident: Vehicle did the same thing on vogelweh air force base. It was towed to mum mattusch. When they looked at it the diagnosis was low battery. It was explained the draw on the battery by the vehicle but showed no issue as the vehicle was drained and upon charging the battery that must reboot the error code.

While making a left turn at low speeds it seemingly felt like my power steering was disabled and I had to crank my wheel in order to make the turn. A few hours later, I get home and about 100 yards from my apartment, the 'service electronic stability control ' warning pops up. I have only had this vehicle 2 days and less than 300 miles. It's safe to say, I'm extremely unhappy with this vehicle.

2018 Jeep jl unlimited 3.6L automatic transmission, 750 total miles. On 9/12/2018, transmission failed and vehicle was towed to dealership (mckay's Dodge/Jeep, waite park, mn). When vehicle was lowered by tow truck, about 1 liter of gasoline poured down over the exhaust system on the right rear (passenger) and onto the service bay floor. The vehicle had a nearly full gas tank at the time of the tow. If the vehicle had been driven to the dealership and the gasoline had dumped as much volume onto the muffler and exhaust system...both the vehicle and the dealership would have most likely burned. The vehicle is presently at the dealership in waite park, mn updated 10/31/18

I was stopped at a 4 way light in marion Illinois, had my Jeep in neutral with foot on the brake. The light turned green, I pushed the clutch in and the engine didn't come back on. I tried for over fifiteen min. To get it on. Finally called a tow and had it taken to the dealership that I ordered it through not even 30 days ago. They didn't look at it until 4 days later and said they couldn't recreate the issue. The issue is with the push start engines. I have a manual w/O electric doors so no auto start on a key fob. I only had 204 miles on it!! the dealership told me they've had several people take it out for drives to recreate the issue to no avail. I bought /ordered and fully paid for a brand new 2018 Jeep to not have any issues arise. Now I'm scared to drive it anywhere!

  • 4,850 miles
While starting the vehicle for the third time in two days after picking up the car following a PCM flash for a cruise control recall, I noticed the prnd lights flashing on the shiftier approximately 10 seconds after vehicle start. I subsequently received a cel and a "service shifter' message. I shut off the vehicle, let all displays go dark, and restarted; the cel went away. I proceeded to continue my drive home. About 10/15 min later, I noticed the lights flickering once again on the shifter. I once again elected to continue home as it was late at night. Approximately 2/3 miles later, I received errors on the start/stop and traction control systems. The vehicle appeared to go into a "limp mode" - I it would not shift out of 8th gear and I experienced reduced power and an inability to maintain the posted 70 mph. I decided to exit at the next off-ramp as I could maintain 65mph. While exiting, I noticed the gauge needles (speedo and tach) sweep and got airbag warnings. I heard the electric fan go 100% high (very loud) and I lost power steering. I pulled over to the side of the road and shut off the vehicle. After letting it sit for approximately 5 min, I restarted the vehicle and while the cel remained no other errors were illuminated or presented. I was less than 2 miles from a Jeep dealer and decided to try to continue there on access roads. About 1/8 mile down the road, I once again lost power steering and say various error messages like before. I pulled into a parking lot and aborted my attempts and called for a tow to the dealer less than a mile away. Posted are pictures of the errors read using an obd-2 scanner I had in the glove compartment. While I have driven cars without power steering in the past, it was rather difficult with the larger ~32" tires and I am not sure a crash could be prevented if a smaller person was driving.

Vehicle was parked and would not engage into a gear. I turned off and restarted and was able to get intro gear, and engine light was on, it would not get out of 6th gear, brought to dealer and they said transmission needed a re flash, and it was good, next day it would not go into gear, I shifted transfer case from 2H to 4H back to 2H and engine light was on, I was able to drive to dealership. I was told that they are putting in a new transmission and am waiting for completion. I do not feel safe with this vehicle and am looking for a buy back from manufacture, vehicle only has 1,500 miles on it. Updated 9/20/18

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. While driving various speeds, one week after the vehicle was purchased, the vehicle shut down. The service transmission and the service engine indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer (9655 Firestone blvd, downey, ca 90241, 562-231-3500) where the technician diagnosed and replaced the module inside the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to give more time for further testing. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the transmission was replaced. The contact had not yet retrieved the vehicle to determine if it was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 300.
