Wrangler Unlimited Sport 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 87000 miles needs new head. Check engine light started coming on about 6 months ago. First, it was the thermostat that needed replaced and now recently the light started to go on and off at random times. I had the code pulled and it said cylinder 2 misfire. Took it to the dealership for diagnostic and they said it needed spark plugs and a new coil. Replaced those parts and 2 days later the light is back on with the same code, cylinder 2 misfire.

The code in conjunction with the ticking noise is leading me to believe that I too have the defective Pentastar head. Something needs to be done about Chryslers continued use of defective parts and excluding them from the extended warranty on older models!!! I hear a class action lawsuit has been filed in 2020. I hope this is resolved with a positive outcome.

Wrangler JKU 3.52

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,200 miles

The engine light keeps coming on, and I reset it. Finally took it to the dealer, they think it was spark plugs. Changed them. A couple of weeks later, the light came on again. Now the cylinder heads need to be replaced. 1) I'm told that this is a rare occurrence with a Wrangler at this mileage. 2) No part is available. Might take up to 6 to 8 weeks to obtain one. 2) I have to continue driving it until part is located.

Wrangler Willy's

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

Leased this brand new 2016 Jeep Wrangler Willy's edition and a week after the engine light went on. Took it back to the dealership and was told there was nothing wrong with the engine, just needs a software update that ts not available yet. They reset and sent us off. One week later, lights on again. Took it back to the dealership and they said the same thing again. We decided to to talk to a sales manager to ask for a replacement fearing for our safety with this car but was otherwise asked to call Chrysler Customer Service and a case was opened up for us. After that, we never heard from them for weeks. Called and e-mailed numerous times but just given the run-around and told the case has been escalated and someone will be in touch with us. Gave us our case managers direct number with a FULL voicemail box. TERRIBLE customer care! Jeep's engine light's still on, we got tired of bringing it back and forth to the dealer's service center. It's been 3 months since we got this vehicle and we've been very frustrated, considering getting legal help now.

Wrangler

  • Manual transmission
  • 1,200 miles

Brand New Jeep Wangler, in the shop twice in first 2 weeks. First problem Radio Navigation system went down. Took it to dealer and left it. They called back in 2 hours and said they could not find anything wrong and told me the system must have rebooted. That night 5-6-16 the engine light came on. Took it back to dealer and the said it had a multitude of errors and they need to keep it and gave me a loner. Have not heard back as of yet on the problem they found, but after reading the complaints on here I'm of the opinion that a 2 week old vehicle with multiple errors needs to go back to jeep and they need to give me another jeep or money back. They will not put that monkey on my back. More to come

Wrangler Limited V6

My Jeep that I purchased on 3.4.2016 was taken-in on Monday 3.21.2016 for the engine light being on. I was originally told a valve needed to be replaced. Then I was told a different valve had to be replaced along with frayed cables. Now, I'm being told the lifters need to be replaced. I'm about to ask for another new Jeep stating this one is a Lemon.

Update from Mar 29, 2016: Replaced: Tappet: Valve Lash - Qty 24. Arm: Valve - Qty24. Gasket: Cylinder Head Cover - Qty 2. Camshaft: Intake - Qty 2. Camshaft: Intake - Qty 2. Camshaft: Exhaust - Qty 2. Adhesive: RTV Gray - Qty 1.

Diag Code P0304, P0305, P0306, Performed misfire diagnosis procedure, compression test, leak down test, & swap the plug, coil & injectors. All test checked out within specs, found related star case open for concern. Star case #S1609000004. Per star case replaced lash adjusters & roller finger followers, also replaced intake & exhaust camshafts due to grooved lobes. Verified proper operation & misfire not present anymore & check engine light went off.
