First of all, I am not happy with this Jeep, a brand new car should not have as many problems I have with this car. I had a problem with the engine first year this car was bought and on and on... 2 of the rear seat belts are not working at all. They are not releasing at all and have been like this for a long time. I can only have one of my girls sitting in the back. Jeep suck I am not happy at all with this car. I will never purchase a Jeep again.
Both of my rear seat belts do not release when you are going down the road. Conversely if you exhale the belts tighten up. The brakes are not applied at this time - the Jeep is going forward at a nice and easy speed. Both rear seat belts do this. Local dealer said this was normal - I asked them (everyone in service area) loudly if their seat belts in their cars do this? I dared them to check their own cars on the way home - none spoke up or took the challenge. They changed the subject.
A functioning seat belt will adjust to the passengers comfort level - not get tighter...except I guess mine!
The front drivers side seat belt does not retract . Inspected the belt coil return spring and found it rusted and very brittle. Seat belt will not restrain because the belt does not retract and lock.
Jeep is garage kept. Never been on trails or exposed to any water. I am also going to inspect passages side belt spring.
I am going to purchase a new OEM seat ($200) belt and inspect it for faulty material in the coil metal. The spring should have elasticity and not brittle. If it is brittle coil I will purchase after market seat belts. This is my wife's car and don't want to have an accident have them break under any strain.
My seat belt keeps getting hung between the seat and door, I have to open the door to get it to release its causing damage to my interior. I pay this much for a vehicle I don't want it damaged by a stupid seat belt. They should retract properly and not half way.
