I had terrible knocking when my engine ran and I was told I needed a new engine and they don't take engines apart anymore. I was lucky to find one with really low mileage. I was told by a dealership in Napa that Jeeps are disposable and I just wonder how the owner of that dealership would feel about an employee saying such a thing to a potential customer. I had the work done by a mechanic that I trust and not a dealership.
This vehicle was purchased new by me and is meticulously dealer maintained and no maintenance is every skimped on. I was running errands and the was parked and idling as I ran into the store for less than 10 minutes. When I came out the entire area around my vehicle was filled with smoke. Coolant was pouring out from under the vehicle and the engine was making a loud humming noise as if metal to metal w/no lubricant. Check engine light was on.
When I turned off the engine and opened the hood I could see the coolant reservoir was boiling over and radiator filler and drain hose were expanded like a balloon. Got towed to dealership and was told that both heads needed to be replaced and they'll be checking both blocks for potentially be warped as well. I do have the MOPAR Maximum Care Warranty so I'm told it's covered but MOPAR will be sending an inspector to look at the vehicle before repairs are authorized. I'll update once repairs are made with the final outcome.
