Transmission Issues started about a year ago. While normal driving around town when letting off the throttle, whether in traffic or at slow speeds, it would shift hard into 3rd. The issue then started getting worse 4 months later. Then the hard shifting started on 1 2 and 3rd gear, until this past August, the Jeep started making this horrible whining noise and the Jeep stopped dead in its tracks. I was able to shut the Jeep off restart and limp to my local dealer. According to my service adviser the transmission was fully rebuilt.
Then about a month or so later when things started getting cold outside overnight (even though my Jeep is garaged), when starting up cold in the morning, letting the Jeep run for 30 or so seconds and driving off, The Jeep will shift erratically. It will go from 1 to 2 then back to 1 and shift hard into 2 or it will go from 1 2 3 then back to 2nd and shift hard back into 3rd.
After driving for 5 to 7 minutes it shifts fine with no issues except for a once weird shift every once in awhile.
I've taken it to the dealer but due to communication issues between the service adviser, the trans tech only updated the computer in the Jeep. After the update yes, it shifts better, but the initial problem is still there. And slowly getting worse.
The problem is getting the issue to reproduce itself at the dealer. And the only way to do this is to leave it overnight and even then some, in which I did. However the miscommunication issue the trans tech thought I was having a lock up TC issue.
