I took the Rubicon to Steve White Motors this Saturday April 14th to finally get this fixed. I have had them look at it before. With all of the complaints about this very problem on multiple years of the Jeep JK model, the mechanic says he wants me to take him to the gas station and show him it overflows- ALL YA HAVE TO DO IS GOOGLE. I wasn't in the mood to Run gas out on my shoes again so I said NEVERMIND. In the time he was talking to me at this Dealership- I pulled up an article that said I can get the part from Amazon for $40.00 and the fix takes 15 minutes. I WILL Do it Myself. I'm filing this complaint to say how LAME they are at this place for thinking this is okay. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I have tremendous coverage on this car since I got it from a dealer in OHIO. It's all covered. They didn't want to address the issue.
I bought this Wrangler Saturday 5-30-2015 Went to fill it up and the very first time I did I found out that it does not shut off automatically when it reaches full, spilling all over the bumper of the Jeep and a little on myself. I thought maybe it was an anomaly. My wife went to fill it up a week or so later and she said the same thing happened to her.
EVERY time since then we have had to keep an eye on the fuel gauge to make sure when it got close to the "full" line to shut off the gas pump. It happened again just a couple weekends ago when I was filing up and was talking to someone on the next gas pump over from us about his Jeep and if he had the same problem. As I was talking to him, you guessed it, the tank overflowed all over the bumper and ground.
This is NOT related in any way to "WHAT KIND OF FUEL I AM PUTTING IN MY TANK" That had to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard when i did some research on this and read that Chrysler said it was somehow related to the fuel you are putting in!!! ASININE!!!! Am I going to have to wait for the fuel tank to explode for something to get done, then sue Chrysler for everything they have of SOMETHING to get done?!?!?! (This is just ANOTHER example of what a REACTIVE society we have become instead of being PROACTIVE and making sure problems like this do not get to the point that a class action lawsuit is filed) This issue has been going on since we bought it and overtime we fill it up. Why is this even an issue with Chrysler and doing something to FIX THE PROBLEM!
When filling the tank, once it reaches the full point, it fails to stop the fuel in time and fuel spills all over the side of the rear fender. It does this every single time I fill up.
