Jeep has failed miserably to make things right. When a problem plagues so many auto owners and they refuse to deal with the issue, it’s only going to come back and bit them in the butt. I myself have been turned off from buying any more of their products.

Up to this point I don’t know if my Jeep engine was affected because of the oil engine cooler blowing up and leaking all its water... causing my Jeep engine to over heat.

After getting an oil change and inspection at a Jeep dealership, they informed me that my engine oil cooler was cracked and leaking oil and the estimate to replace was over $1000. I didn’t see any evidence of oil leak so I went home and did some research which showed that this was a common problem with Jeeps. I decided to stop using the Jeep just till the spring and then called the closest Jeep dealership to get an estimate and schedule an appointment. I was informed that they didn’t have the part and had no idea when it would come in. I called another dealership and was informed that the part was on back order and had no idea when or if it would be in stock.

According to my research, I discovered that the part was ultimately discontinued and possibly being redesigned and no info as to when. That leaves me with the option of purchasing an after market part online, having it installed for approximately $600 and taking my chances with no warranty or waiting indefinitely for the redesigned part to come in and lose the use of my Jeep. I called for info and to report the issue to Jeep Cares but got nothing but the usual useless advice, no info offered at all.

The core of the assembly is plastic. Any engineer knows that the plastic core coupled with heat and vibration will fail. Failure will be catastrophic to the engine causing a leak and ruining the engine as the oil leaks out. You can not fix the fractured part you have to replace the entire assembly. The cost is $1,000.

ANYONE CHANGING THE OIL IN A WRANGLER NEEDS TO KNOW THIS PLASTIC CORE BREAKS OFF EASILY DUE TO HEAT AND VIBRATION FATIGUE. THE MORE MILES THE GREATER THE LIKELIHOOD OF INADVERTENT CATASTROPHIC FAILURE!!!
