Hi all. I don’t log into anything usually but this is worth it. Today’s date is 18 Sept 20. My Wrangler had been stalling while stopped and shifting issues for YEARS! And no, no engine lights. A few years, and multiple trips to the dealership have yielded ZERO results. After much frustration, as the problem has gotten worse over the years, my Jeep stalled on me 41 times in one day, last week. Dealer kept it for a week, had multiple back and forths with Chrysler HQ “experts†and their only solution was to replace the transmission, torque converter, valve body, etc. costing me over $6K.
As much as I love my Jk, there’s no way I’m spending $6K on a $12K car, so I got a couple cash offers and prepared to sell, but before that I thought I would try replacing the Crankshaft Sensor. Bought the part and swapped them in my garage. Took 10 minutes.
I’m happy to report that after two days of intensive driving, my shifting is back to normal, it hasn’t stalled yet, and I’m keeping my 2012 JK! (For now).
Don’t let the dealerships fool you guys. The shifting problems and the random stalling at standstill are related! They just don’t know how to fix anything without engine codes telling them what to do!
I am definitely with the last poster. There needs to be a class-action suit here. I was hung out on the road stalled several times. So glad I found this site and solved my own problem.
