Traveling straight on surface treated road with some bumps, Jeep went into death wobble 4 times on Callaway Road in Franklin County at around 50mph. Now must stay off any road with any surface irregularity and stay under 40mph. Rename Jeep, Creep, since that's all that can be done with the vehicle. At this rate the Jeep will last forever since it is not safe to drive. Why is gov't not investigating, payoff? I don't recall any Jeep commercial showing the great time had by drivers experiencing death wobble.

Update from Feb 11, 2015: on 02/09/2015 driving on straight surface treated road, Callaway Road in Franklin County Va, traveling north at almost 50mph, the jeep front end started violently shaking. Using the emergency brake instead of the front brakes, I think it slowed fasted than trying to pump the brake pedal, not that it makes the situation better. I've spoken again with a Jeep dealership, who has suggested I start replacing parts they cannot determine to be bad or defective, and their good news is that since I have a warranty it will only cost me $100.00 each time to keep replacing parts, not to mention my good fortune to have to spend all day at the dealership while the Jeep may or may not be fixed. Eventually, this vehicle will fall apart or wreck. 99.99% of the time it is fun to drive, .01% is an unacceptable amount of time driving an uncontrollable vehicle. This is becoming more frequent.

On Blueridge Parkway, smooth surface, dry road. on sweeping left turn under 50 mph, had death wobble 2 times. Everything OK as long as the Jeep is driven under 40mph. Don't recall that in sales pitch that Jeep cannot be driven over 50mph in turns. Local dealership would like to see vehicle again. Why should I return to a place that could not find problem after having the Jeep for 3 days. Dealership nice, but nice does not fix the problem.

Jeep was not modified or lifted in any way. Chrysler did not cover under existing or extended warranty stating it was normal wear and tear, but I disagree. Resulted in replacing steering damper, which caused tire balance and alignment issues due to dangerous and violent wobble at highway speeds.

bought a brand new 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited. within 6 months of buying the jeep the death wobble occurred. was taken in to service dept and was told that my steering stabilizer was loose and they tightened it. that was the beginning of our nightmare with the death wobble and Chrysler. This is for my first incident there is many more to follow for the death wobble. the death wobble is when the whole jeep shakes and it shakes so violently that you literally think you are going to die, either from lost of control or a wreck. you can't slam on the brakes that only makes it get worse you just have to ride it out and wait for speed to drop down sometimes you have to wait for a complete stop. Chrysler says this is no safety issue. well maybe they live in a ghost town but in a civilized town when most your ride is highway and you have other cars and semis lined up doing 75-80 mph and your jeep starts death wobbling it is very scary.

Every time I took my jeep in for the death wobble i keep getting told that it doesn't happen when they test drive it. They didn't even test drive it over 40 mph. when we told the service dept that it only happens over 50 mph. of course it is not going to do it when you are going 40 mph. Then they started throwing parts at it and they still are. I still have the death wobble. the dealership where i bought it, told us that they would have to take the jeep apart to try to fix it. but would only give us a 5 day rental. how are you going to take apart a vehicle try to figure out what is wrong , order the parts and put it back together in 5 days. it took then a week to get a part in from a previous visit for the death wobble. we went on vacation to Texas from Indiana. It did the death wobble so much that my arm ached from gripping the stirring wheel so tight for so long it took us 20 hours when it should have been a 14 hr trip. the very next day we took into the dealership in Texas and there it sat for 2 months. that is right i was stuck in Texas for 2 months because of this problem. Chrysler wanted us to pay to have the lift kit taken off. i don't think so. the lift kit was installed by dealer sitting on the jeep dealership lot with an added price for the lift kit and now Chrysler don't want to stand behind it... then stop selling brand new jeeps with lift kits. then we are shown that the lift kit the dealership put on it has MISSING pieces. what kind of mechanics work at these places that the can't even read instructions. all lift kits come with instructions. i couldn't believe they would sell a jeep with missing pieces on the lift kit and after all the times it was in the shop with all the so called mechanics that looked at the front end none of them could tell that is was MISSING pieces. then instead of just replacing the lift kit Chrysler let the dealership replace the missing pieces. we finally get it back and it still does the death wobble. back in the shop not even 2 weeks later.

I wish I would have known all about the death wobble before I purchased my jeep. I don't even have a year with it and boy I already had this awful car shaking twice in the middle of the interstate. The amazing thing is that now that I found this site, I see what other people is experiencing also. If you are going on the interstate you will get the death wobble soon or later, if you hit a hole it is also an issue, you hit a small dish while in curve and hold on tight, if you hit a bump or dish while breaking your breaks loses the grip....

I am going to try to turn in my car for something else....I am not going to deal with this issue over and over. It is very scary and I can't risk my kids. Just stay away from this type of cars and don't buy them!!!
