This overflowing issue has been happening for the past two years and it has gotten to the point I can't bear it anymore. When it overflows it goes everywhere, making me have to clean the gas off my Jeeps paint, which is causing it to take the clear coat off. It as well is causing me to pay more for gas than I should due to it not stopping before its full. I have had half a gallon overflow out due to this issue. Even watching the pump and stopping it before it cuts off it will over flow out. Fiat/Jeep needs to own up to this issue and try and resolve it before they have more problems on their hand like needing to repaint my jeep and repay me for all the wasted gas. The gas has gone on my clothes, shoes, and me even a time or two. Luckily I got it off my skin before it caused any issues with my skin.
I'm sure this won't make a difference, but if you have had this problem, report it, so maybe we can get this resolved before there are more problems to arise in the future.
Would not think it is right for Jeep to know that this kind of thing would happen on a lot of vehicles and know that there is a problem but does nothing to take care of its costumers.
Every time. Every time I fill it with gas, it overflows. Even when I slow down when it is just about full. if it is going full to shut off, at least a half pint spills.
Everytime I fill the Jeep Wrangler, 2011, when filling, I try to listen when it is about full. If so, I can stop the large amount of gas. Only a few ounces but enouth to get the side of the Jeep wet with gas. From time to time, I listen and do not know it is almost full and at least a cup of gas spills. It needs to be fixed.

The last ten times at various gas stations: Shell, 76, Fred Meyers, Costco, etc, when I fill the tank, the gas does not shut off and spills about a cup of gas out of my tank, down the side on the fender and on the floor of the gas station. Such bull sh*t. I've never owned a car that did this, ever!
The automatic fuel shutoff fails resulting in fuel spilling out onto the jeep and ground at gas station. This presents a serious fire hazard and could be life threatening.
EACH TIME WE FILL UP OUR 2011 JEEP WRANGLER WITH FUEL, JUST AS THE PUMPS AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF CLICKS, FUEL WILL BLOW OUT AND ALL OVER WHOEVER IS HOLDING THE PUMP HANDLE.
THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN, EXCEPT FOR THE CLICK FROM THE PUMP HANDLE A SPLIT SECOND BEFORE YOU GET DOUSED.
WE CHECKED WITH OUR JEEP DEALER TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT, HOWEVER IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE "INLET CHECK VALVE"; A MECHANICAL ITEM THAT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE, AND A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN, BUT IS SOMEHOW NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
WE WENT ON-LINE TO RESEARCH AND FOUND SIMILAR ISSUES WITH OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES, INCLUDING 2007-2009 JEEP WRANGLERS.
REALLY AGGRAVATING TO FIND OUT THERE HAD BEEN PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, CHRYSLER KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, BUT BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2011 YEAR, IT WAS NOT CONSIDERED A REAL CONCERN.
Just about every other time I get gas in my 2011 Jeep it overflows. I'm not sure if it is just a Jeep thing because it also happened in my 2010 Jeep. So I have to just keep a watch on how much I put in and stop when I think it is just about enough.
Overflows every time I fill the tank...varies by pump, but happens to differing degrees every time unless I manually intervene when I think the tank is almost full. splashed all over my shoes the first couple of times before I realized it was the tank and not the pump. First time it happened I thought the pump was defective. Pretty annoying and seems to be quite dangerous.
Every time I fill up, the gas overflows. It does not stop and I try to fill it more. I am standing right at the pump and the amount of gas that comes out is a whole heck of a lot. This is very dangerous as then you have gasoline all over you, all over your clothes, and all over your vehicle. There is no warning, it seems that the shut off for when it is full is not working. This is a major issue and needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously hurt. This causes skin burning, rash, and irritation.
I'm concerned it is a safety hazard, but Jeep service department said it's probably just the vent not operating efficiently, but not to be concerned. I don't think it's something that I should pay for to be fixed as it seems like a safety issue and has been a problem in the past with other Chrysler vehicles.
