2011 bought brand new in late 2010. Never abused and always driven conservatively. I've had it almost 7 years, but only put 48,628 kilometers (about 30,392.5 miles ) on it.
The amber "Check Engine" light comes on and the engine is running ruff and underpowered. I pull into the nearest gas bar. Sure enough, as I have read here, the dipstick is not registering any oil. 3 quarts later the oil level is ok, but the engine is still protesting. I get it to the dealer where their diagnostic computer points out a #2 cylinder misfire. They pull the sparkplug and it is fouled with carbon. The service tech looks into the cylinder with a borescope and claims the piston rings have spun and the ring gaps have all aligned, allowing oil to flow into the combustion chamber.
How is this possible? I have driven 4 cyl. cars 200,000 km and 300,000 km, only to replace them when the body is starting to rot away from salt corrosion, but a Jeep engine will not last 50,000 km ? They are asking 4 grand to tear the engine apart to fix the problem because the 5 years on the warranty has run out on an engine that was guaranteed for 100,000 km. Last Chrysler/Jeep I will ever buy since they can't stand behind their products.
I bought my 2011 Jeep Wrangler 3.8L used with 67,000 miles on her in 2015, shortly after purchase change oil light came on. I didn't think too much about it, went to quick lube for change, said she was a quart low. I changed oil 3000 miles later, said she was a quart low again, but they could not see where she was leaking anywhere. Next 3000 miles she was 2 quarts, quick lube suggested a thicker oil may help. Next oil change one quart low, The engine light has since come on and I brought her to my my mechanic. He replied, it's internal in the engine, check to see if recall, because with only 82.000 miles I should not be having these issues. I am a 52 year old woman who does not drive my baby like a 20 year old..... should not be having engine issues.... Fix the problem Chrysler!!! I have been a Jeep Wrangler owner since 1998 and never had a problem with the 4.0!!!
CarMax of mesa az sold me an 2011 jeep wrangler sport 5 days after I bought it the check engine light came on. I took it back they "say" they checked it and reset the light . another week went by and it came on again. Took it back and CarMax treated me like I didn't know what the f*ck I was talking about. This time they said we replaced the gas cap. That didn't work either. I took it to an dodge deaer in az Earnhardt and they looked at it and said its the evape system...prolly an leak. we can smoke it and test for 300.00. I explained my situation and tried to get CarMax to fix the jeep and went to AAA and they refused to investigate. can you help.
code p0740 has come up, the car only has under 38k miles
i think the fact that i have under 38k in miles this is clearly a defective expensive repair. i would like corporate to help me with this problem based on the fact that the car is almost new. this hardly seems fair. i will push until i get a resolve here. i have maintenance my card regularly and this is clearly a lemon . i will take to social media and anywhere else i have to to get this fixed by corporate
