I went in today to have an inspection done on my 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I knew there had been a problem with the EGR valve that needed to be fixed, but when expecting my vehicle today another code came up that said there was a small leak in one of the hoses. After failing inspection, I took my Jeep by the dealership to see what it would cost to get it fixed. They put smoke through the system to try and find a "small leak" but didn't find one. One of the technicians decided to check the cap on the fuel tank and noticed that one of the "nipples" was broken off. The only solution to this problem is to replace the entire gas tank. The technician said this was the 4th or 5th Wrangler he had seen with this problem. Considering that I have never been off-roading in my Jeep or been rough on my vehicle, this seems absurd! Replacing the EGR Valve and the gas tank is going to cost me right at $2000!!!! My vehicle only has 93,000 miles on it.
