The dealers themselves know that there is a gasoline problem but they do not tell you about it. I might be lucky,I live in Mass and there is a 60 day safety guarantee (and part of the states lemon law) How many people have to die or get Cancer before they repair all Jeeps instead of just a handful? Gas is a safety issue as the smell of gasoline is real strong in the cab.

I belive this is extremely dangerous. Every time I fill my tank up a quart spills over all of my car, the ground, and sometimes myself. This is not good for the environment or anyone around it. Could easily cause a fire. Has ruined my clothing and shoes as well as discolors my bumper. Serious problem that needs to be fixed!!

I can't believe that Jeep would not back this problem up. I bet if the big wigs at jeep had this issue they would have had it repaired at not charge to them. They are truley ass holes for not helping us out.

EVERY TIME I fill my tank up, the gas spews all over the Jeep and me. I NEVER top it off, when the pump clicks I give it a few seconds then pull the pump out. It spills everywhere before I even pull the pump out. I have tried several different gas stations and it happens at every one of them. I want this fixed asap. Tired of smelling like gas everywhere I go and the embarrassment I have every time I fill up at a gas station as well as people staring at me. I know this has been a forced recall for the year prior to mine, obviously its still an issue. Anyone get this problem fixed by themselves and if so what was the solution?

I'm pretty frustrated every time I filled up gas in my Jeep and the gas spit out on my car. My husband have replace the gas cap twice already. I call Chrysler and explain the problem to them and they tell me that there is no recall on them. But suggest that I may have to replace the gas filler neck and the cost for that is over $500 buck. I don't know What to do at this point but I also don't want to spent over $500 for part.

Any suggest?

Right after my warranty was up- and I'm sure that was planned somehow- every single time I fill up my gas tank it spews fuel out AFTER the pump's auto shut off engages. Sometimes if the station is fairly quiet I can listen for the sound of the tank getting full and click it off before it's completely full so it won't do it but that only happens if I'm at a quiet station and that's not often. Sometimes it actually sprays fuel over the top of the nozzle and it gets all over me, other times it just runs down the side of the car and onto the ground. I've paid a lot of money in fuel that I'm leaving on the ground because of this problem, not to mention had fuel in my eyes and gone home numerous times stinking of gasoline. It doesn't matter what time of the year it is, how hot or cool the temperature is, what station I go to or what pump I use...it does it every single time I fill up.

After this started I did some searching online and discovered that many people were having the same problem. I saw that Chrysler was replacing fuel tanks for some people but that the issue returned a short time later, some with the very first fill up so I never bothered to go to the dealer about it because I'm not putting out a bunch of money to a dealership when they can't or won't fix the underlying issue. Why is it that other car manufacturers can figure out how to build a gas tank that doesn't throw up but Chrysler doesn't seem to get it?!?! And for them to blame Jeep owners for the problem by saying we're topping off or using too much ethanol is a bunch of crap! I NEVER top off my tank and I use the gas stations with the least amount of ethanol I can find- usually around 10%. Doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Jeep should be recalling all of their vehicles where this problem occurs. This is a widespread issue with their vehicles, which should qualify it for a recall.

Seriously Chrysler - fix gas tank problems. People are already burning to death as a result of Liberty and Cherokee plastic gas tanks and rear end collisions (just Google it). It is not safe!! Gas is "throwing up" all over the side of my vehicle, onto my clothing and skin and even once onto my 4 year-old child. It is getting worse and worse...never buying Chrysler again. Chrysler sucks....

Out of the blue, when fueling started getting back flush of fuel after the gas fueling nozzle shut off. Now that I know it is a regular problem, I will go to the dealer. It sounds like they actually know the problem and failed to fix it on their own.

Happens every top off. Fill up the tank and then fuel starts gushing out after the nozzle has clicked off. About a quart of fuel goes all over the ground, the car, and me. $800 to repair. I told them they need to get this fixed but they refused under warranty.

WHEN FUELING MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED (SAHARA), GAS SPEWS BACK OUT OF THE TANK FOLLOWING THE AUTO SHUT OFF OF THE GAS PUMP. THIS IS MY SECOND FILL-UP SINCE PURCHASING THE JEEP NEW AND IT HAS HAPPENED BOTH TIME. IT OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS SO IT ISN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE PUMP OR NOZZLE. THE JEEP IS NOT PROPERLY VENTILATING THE GAS AND DETECTING THE LEVEL SO AS TO PREVENT THE GAS BLOW BACK.

After owning several German cars, and then feeling bad with the US Auto Market problems. I decided to try to support the bail out and buy American.

I don't think after 52000 miles a fuel tank should need to be replaced. After reading all the complaints on line, I decided to file my own and let other readers understand. I know problems happen, but I also know from my experience with other car manufactures, that this internal problems with complains all over the www would have been taken care of without a problem.
