This Jeep has been nothing but a issue. Have been to shops for a year. Check engine light wont stay off, wheels shake at certain speeds, over heats, radiator issues, you name it. The dealer would not cover anything and went out of business shortly after. This Jeep is a lemon. There has to be recalls on this. Jeep is currently at garage again and they are saying possible computer issues again maybe 02 yada. Came out of grocery store the other night and the Jeep would not start. Not the battery. Again the garage called and said it may be a electrical issue with the security of the vehicle. Just had new plugs and wires installed. This is absurd and there should be recalls on these Jeep. There is definitely safety concerns!!!!!!!! haven't been able to get the engine light off as previously stated and thus still cant get a inspection going on a year! someone please help!!!

Driving up a long grade on the two lane road just sight seeing. We stopped to turn left onto another road and smelled something. Thought it was just something else until there was smoke in the car. Got out of the vehicle and looked under to see flames and yelled for my girlfriend and dog to get out. My friend had a fire extinguisher and put out the fire just as the plastic fuel line burst and sprayed fuel all over.. lucky no one was injured.

In reference to tipm recall. While driving, the horn will blow nonstop, as well as windshield wipers engage, fluid sprays nonstop onto windshield, A/C will not blow, engine has shut off spontaneously which caused a truck to lightly bump me in an intersection. Selling dealership (hebert's town and country shreveport, la) will not fix. youtu.be/ryjxvng4C8I.

I was driving on the interstate, enroute home, and my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited just lost power which I steered it onto the shoulder. No warning lights, nor equipment failure indicator was on my dashboard. My vehicle started smoking heavily underneath the engine compartment. I had to tow my vehicle to a Jeep dealership, for further investigation on the cause. I'm awaiting for their findings on the cause.

Driving home after work at night on the interstate, approx. 75mph, the windshield washer and wipers come on and the horn starts blowing continuously and wont stop, I pulled off on the closest freeway exit and pulled off the road and shut off the engine, but even with removing the key from the ignition switch it continued to run with the washers, wipers and horn going....after several attempts turning the ignition switch on and off the motor finally stopped running but the washers, wipers and horn continued until I disconnected the battery...after reconnecting the battery everything went back to normal and functioned normally for several months, but recently has started acting like its possessed again...took it to the local dealer(chapmen Dodge and they were unable to find any issue even after I told them it sounds like the tipm, and from what I have researched this is an ongoing issue with Chrysler, they said they would replace it for $1000 but it may not be the problem.....

Changed my engine oil and noticed that it was 3 quarts low, it has never been low before until this oil change, I use 6 quarts of mobil 1 full synthetic and filter every oil change, got to looking on line and found that there are a lot of people having this issue (www.ipetitions.com/petition/oilburningjeepwrangler/signatures/page/3)( just one of many I found in my search).Chrysler's come back to everyone has been that on the 3.8 litter engine they allow 1 quart of oil consumption per 1000 miles, this is not except able, anyone with any knowledge of vehicle maintenance knows that a engine with 38000 miles does not consume this much oil, I think that this needs to be looked into and Chrysler needs to recall these engines. By the way I do have the lifetime power train warranty.

I was leaving home at 6:00am to go to work and the small red light for engine problems came on. Then the low tire pressure light came on, then went off and so did the red light. There is nothing I could do at that time of the morning so I limped to work, 25 miles of on/off/on/off/on gets to you. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in. I did and they couldn't find anything wrong with it and couldn't make the light come back on. Over the next couple of months, the red light would come on but not the tire light. What is wrong with my Jeep" if the light doesn't come on, they can't fix it??" it doesn't come on by command. And it is still coming on/off/on/off.

Everything is normal and working, you try to start the car and there is a click then nothing. I then move the shifter to neutral and start the car then move shifter back to park. There are no codes being registered if you plug in a diagnostic machine and I've had several competent mechanics check it out to no avail. This is happening.to many other people and isn't an isolated incident, which is why I'm reporting it. It appears to be an electrical issue, a grounding issue to be specific.

I started my 2008 Jeep Wrangler jk and immediately got a check engine light with an audible sound. The engine was running very rough and shaking. I turned off the engine and it seemed fine but the check engine light was still on. I have a obd2 diagnostic code reader and it showed the code P0306. This is a misfire on the number six cylinder. I took it to larry H. miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership in albuquerque and this is what was done. "wi tech diagnostics for fault codes, had store codes for injector #6 circuit, no work done, operating as per design". I asked what can be done to fix the problem and [xxx] said that the tech could not duplicate the problem so they could not fix anything. [xxx] offered to perform a fuel injector cleaning but this was the only options for now. The next day I started the Jeep and had the same issue. I looked up this code 0306 on the Jeep jk site and read posts of "pentastar problem". in all cases these people had to visit the dealership 4 to 5 times until they fixed the problem. While driving at night, the horn, front wipers, washers, rear wipers, and reverse lights all came on without warning. Pulled to side of road and turned off car but engine did not turn off. Opened hood and hit top of T.I.P.M. (totally integrated power module). Horn, wipers, washers, and engine stopped. This is a common problem with 2007-2009 Wrangler that Jeep fails to accept. It is unsafe because you cannot stop the engine or see where you are going when the washer fluid starts running. This is the 3rd time in 2 years this has done this.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where he was advised that there was a leak on the surface of the engine. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the engine leak and the manufacturer stated that there was nothing they could do because the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a second diagnostic test which determined that the front crankshaft seal would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 87,430. The current mileage was 85,000. Updated 12/31/12 updated 1/3/2013
