- Starter/Electrical Problem Complaint - I've had very similar issues with my 2008 jk (won't start, windshield wipers won't shut off, dashboard lights won't work, cannot shift into park, headlights/breaklights won't work). I have replaced the battery, starter, neutral safety switch, wiring harness, all starter relays, computer, and most fuses... problem still persists. The dealer had my car for 2 weeks and could not find a diagnosis. This is such a common problem... it needs to be recalled. Please stop spending all your money and file a Vehicle Safety Complaint with the US Dept of Transportation (link above). This is the only way to solve the issue without breaking your bank.

For the past two years my Jeep Wrangler Sahara which I purchased in 2008 brand new from White Plains Jeep Wrangler has been experiencing a problem with starting. I put the keys in ignition sometimes and nothing happens as if the battery was dead. I started moving around the gear shifter pushing it forward and It would do the trick and the jeep would start. This would not happen all the time but when it did, I used this method and the Jeep would start. I recently lent my car to a family member and forgot to tell him about this issue. It wouldn't start for him and he had it towed and the mechanic changed the battery and he used the car the next few days with no issues. I picked up the car and the Jeep was good for awhile, however it started again and I decided to bring it to Bill Volz Jeep dealership in Cortlandt. The examined the Jeep and said it was the Starter, and the ground wire was melted. After also finding my Transmission pan was leaking, and an Oil Change, this visit cost me over $900 dollars. I was assured that this issue was fixed. I use my Jeep as a second car and since 2008 have 97000 miles on the car. After having the car for about a week, and using the car a couple of days all seemed well and was thrilled that the problem was fixed. However today after using the car for a few errands, I tried starting the Jeep and it wouldn't start. I tried moving the gear shift forward and back a few times but nothing. After a few minutes I placed the car in neutral and the Jeep started. It happened again later in the day. Back to the dealership on Monday!!! This sucks
