Airbag light going on and off and on. Secondly, while driving at 39-41 mph and when RPM's drop from roughly 22,000 to roughly 12,000 ( shifting to last gear ),...Jeep starts riding very rough and shaking. Not brakes, alignment, or balancing problem. Only happens with these specific guidelines.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the instrument panel failed to operate and when the brake pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to switch gears. The contact had to engage the manual overdrive switch in order to release the vehicle out of park. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the total integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with a 6 speed manual transmission. I have had several instances that while starting from a stopped position such as at a stop sign the transmission suddenly pops out of first gear. It actually happens so much that I am having to start in second gear as to avoid the loud horrifying sound that it makes and, more importantly, avoid sitting in the middle of an intersection trying to get it back in gear so I don't get killed by oncoming vehicles. The problem with starting in second gear is #1 I shouldn't have to and #2 sometimes it wants to stall starting in that gear especially if you are starting on a hill. I have taken it to the dealer for repairs 2 times, but they tell me that they have never heard of this ever happening. I guess they never look on this website. I called Chrysler to complain, but I never heard back from them. This is a serious problem that NHTSA needs to investigate before someone gets killed if that hasn't happened already. How many people have to die before something gets fixed? the word safety is in the title. Be proactive not reactive for once and investigate this serious problem before anyone dies.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. In addition, the vehicle would exhibit an abnormal noise when accelerating and when the vehicle sporadically failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to the connection rod failing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09V436000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The transmission slips out of gear when driving causing the driver to giggle the stick shift and get it in gear. This takes attention away from driving and getting the car in gear.
This vehicle was classified as having excellent off-road capabilities. After it's first Excursion off-road, the clutch throwout bearing was found to be rattling and had come apart. A full clutch replacement was completed with all new components by a licensed and certified mechanic with excellent outcome. 1 month after the clutch replacement the clutch pedal suddenly went to the floor and would not release the clutch. Replacement of the clutch slave, master and hydraulic line as well as a full hydraulic fluid flush yielded no success even with pressure and vacuum applications to bleed the system. This failure of plastic parts designed for off-road applications is a major safety issue. This system is fed by the brake fluid reservoir and could compromise the braking system if it fails. Numerous tsb's and a possible recall were noted but the dealer notified me that the VIN was not covered under the recall even though it was within the scope of the recall covered years, make and model. Will have Jeep finish the repair at no cost since it seems to be a flawed design.
I was going straight at a 4 way interception and I put first gear and a heavy truck almost hit me with my son in the back of my vehicle. This vehicle has problems with first and third gear. It jumps from 1st gear to neutral and from third gear to neutral and now second gear jumps to neutral as well. So when my incident happened I was going straight and I could not even put second gear and the truck almost hit me. Thank god nothing happen but I am writing this report because it could happen to anybody else or it could happen to me again. And just to take it to the Jeep Chrysler dealer they are charging money just to check the problem. I think is a recall and this needs to be address. I spoke to [xxx] from the corporate Chrysler office and he was not very helpful in regards to this issue. He seem not to care what the incident could of been. This is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 6 speed manual. I am very disappointed with the Jeep Wrangler. I got this truck because it was recommended by a friend of mine and since I have had problems and unfortunately this could lead to something fatal. I think they had this problem for a while now but nobody has ever file a complain. And I feel for the rest of the Wrangler owners who are experiencing the same problems and one day could lead to something very unexpected. I just hope that filing this report will help NHTSA realizes that the Jeep Wrangler have been having issues with manual transmission and somebody who can make Jeep Chrysler listen to my story and not ignore it. I engaged my electronic swaybar disconnect when I went off-roading. When I returned to pavement, I tried to reconnect by pressing the button on the instrument panel, but the light continued flashing on the dash. I took my 2007 Jeep Wrangler rubicon in to the local Jeep dealer and was told that it was not covered by warranty. After doing some research online, I found that this is a very common issue among rubicon owners. In some cases, this defect has caused their vehicle to freeze up. This could be deadly in some of the really hot or really cold locations.
This is my 7th Jeep - purchased as used with 65279 miles on it. Within a week from purchase the transmission popped out of 1st gear while starting from a dead stop. Very loud and startling and I thought it was me being not used to this vehicle. No further incidents for about a month and it happened again causing me suddenly stop when pulling into traffic and nearly getting T-boned. A few weeks later it happened again and I began to talk with other Jeep owners and found this was, and still is, an ongoing problem with Jeep Wrangler from 2007-current. Further research on my part led to finding a tsb #21-001-10 rev a dated 4-20-2010. This popping out of gear happens very sporadically and without any warning, has caused me to nearly become in an accident (T-bone or rear ended) by the sudden, almost explosive stop one makes when it happens. About a month ago this began to slowly happen more often - to the point that I got in the habit of holding the transmission in 1st gear so it would not pop out. When I had this vehicle to the dealer I bought it from for routine service, I asked the service tech. About the transmission issue and was advised that it was a known problem and should be covered under the power train warranty. This popping out began to happen as often as 3 times a day resulting in more "close calls" and, tsb in hand, I scheduled the problem to be corrected at the dealer. I have been advised that this is a $1200 repair and, after the warranty payment, I will owe about $400. This really is a safety issue that has been ongoing for some time and, I think merits further investigation by you folks. I see recalls for the Wrangler for things like floor mats and automatic transmission sensors which "may" cause an accident - this issue has been known for some time to the manufacturer and documented by tsb referenced above. I was driving my 2007 Jeep Wrangler, and the automatic transmission slipped out of gear, I was driving at 25mph. I pulled over to the side of the road, and had the vehicle towed to hyannis transmission #2. if this happened on the highway, this could have caused an accident that could have resulted in serious injuries, or death to a person, or persons.
The 2007 Jeep Wrangler stalled, lost power brakes, lost power steering. Tried to restart the vehicle and would not turn over. We noticed flames shooting up outside the passenger side of the vehicle. All 4 of us climbed out the driver side door. I tried to open the hood and flames came bursting out. Within 2 minutes the whole vehicle engulfed in flames. The flames were coming from underneath the engine. It took the fire department nearly 2 hours to extinguish the flames. The vehicle was a total loss.
The six speed manual transmission continually jumps out of first gear while pulling away from a stop. This is dangerous because it could cause an accident to occur if the transmission was to jump out of gear during a take off and crossing lanes of traffic. I also am aware that this is a common problem, not only has Chrysler shipped a non-functional vehicle but have knowingly ignored a fix after 5 years.
