This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Premature failure of TIPM, multifunction headlight switch and multifunction switch.causing no wipers or turn signals engine shuts down randomly. Faulty rollover valve in gas tank that leaks fumes and gas spits from fuel fill when full
The door locks will unlock and lock by themselves. Without anything being touched. It does it so often that it will run the battery dead at night as the headlights come on every time the vehicle unlock is triggered. Also the horn will sound for no reason. Unprovoked at all hours. No warning whatsoever.
My car started acting up. Neighbors would come regularly ring my house bell to let me know that the Jeep's headlights were on. The Jeep was parked in the street. The problem: It wouldn't stay locked. It would automatically lock and unlock whenever. We only have street parking at home and it was very stressful to leave the car open at night in the street or even when going places. Also the windshield wipers started getting stuck in the middle of the windshield or sometimes stopped working completely. This was very dangerous especially when it happened at high speeds on the highway! finally, the right blinker wouldn't work and that problem seemed to be related to the broken locking/unlocking system. After going back and forth to two different mechanics 5 times (each time they said it was fixed but it wasn't), after replacing the tipm and all the wiper motor parts and reprogramming everything properly, it is now a functional car again! it was a big bill and on top of that I had to spend money on lyft and was very handicapped without a car!
I was driving down the road and the horn started blowing and would not stop, the windshield wipers started wiping at high speed, windshield washer fluid was squirting out, and would not stop. I turned the vehicle off and issues kept happening. The gauges and speedometer stopped working at this time. Luckily I was pulling in my driveway.
Driving down the road when suddenly the horn started honking, wipers started on their own as well as wiper fluid squirting, radio came on and lights turning on and off. Pulled over and even after the car was turned off and key removed ignition the car remained running with all electrical equipment running off and on. It seems that many other people have had this problem with their Jeep/ Chrysler vehicles. I replaced the battery cables and started the car again, it was fine for about 30 seconds then it all happened again until I removed the battery cables. I removed the battery cables to the car because I'm concerned that the electrical problem may cause a fire under the hood and possibly burn my house down.

The passenger side low beam operates intermittently. The problem has been traced to the solid state relay on the tipm printed circuit board. The low beam usually operates after having the selector set to high beam for 20-30 minutes. The only remedy is replacing the tipm at substantial cost for a relatively simple and very important, safety related vehicle function. Replacement tipm units are not readily available, and there is no temporary repair possible. This failure effectively precludes legal operation of the vehicle until the costly repair can be completed.
Shortly before taking vehicle in for brakes, the ABS/esp/bas and traction lights came on. Repair shop stated this would reset after brakes replacement. It did not. Now the lights are on all the time. I have no ABS, no traction control and vehicle is all over the road in inclement conditions. Also the wipers won't turn off after car is turned off and key is removed. They operate on low or high no intermittent. The fluid works and the rear wipers and fluid works, but the wipers wont turn off unless I remove the fuse. And now the cruise control will not work. I was told the tipm is bad, but looking at reviews online. It seems like this is a safety concern for all these issues and should be cause for recall.
2007 Jeep Wrangler, wipers fail or only operate intermittently during moderate to heavy rain. This has happened occasionally over the last 3 years and seems to be getting worse.
