In December 2007 I was sitting in my 2006 Jeep Wrangler X in my driveway with my defroster on when about 5 minutes later I heard a popping noise like when you put ice in a glass and it starts to get hot. I look around and noticed a crack in my windshield coming from under the bottom seal. I called my dealership which they told me it was probably a chip that expanded. I brought it down and fought with the service manager that this should have not happened even if there was a chip in the window because every car that has a chip and turns their defroster on should do the same thing. The dealership told me I had to pay for the window and that it might happen again. The insurance I have covered my window and now again I looked the other day and I have another crack on the new window. Not very happy with this car.
Windshield cracked while driving without any external forces, dealer claims stress fracture, manufacture refuses to replace due to mileage over 12,000, vehicle is a little over 14,000 miles and only one year old. This a safety issue due to manufactures defect that should be replaced regardless of mileage on vehicle. In the process to replace windshield as soon as possible, vehicle being used only in emergency if needed!!
