Consumer stated when putting the vehicle in 4-wheel drive mode, then attempted to go uphill, all of a sudden there was a loud clashing and almost sounded like sonething was dragging, consumer was able to stop the vehicle, but could not disengage the 4-wheel drive, she then pulled out of the driveway and the sound became louder and when consumer tried to stop she could not, the brakes had froze and consumer had to drive into a pile of snow to stop, finally after several attempts the 4-wheel drive released, the vehicle was taken to the dealership and consumer was informed that the transfer case needed to be replaced.
