This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Steering shaft sheared at rack and pinion cause a loss of control and the car went of the road hit a tree the back on the road and flipped over, causing bodily injury and major damage to the car. Probably will be totaled!
The steering wheel lock pin has a sleeve that keeps coming out and rubbing the bottom of the steering wheel. It makes a grinding noise on the bottom of the wheel. The danger is, and fortunatley this happened in my driveway both times, that the sleeve will get caught in the locking pin hole on the steering wheel itself. This causes the steering wheel to become immobile!!! this is only capable of happening in a turn due to the angle of the hole on the steering wheel.
