Vehicle was involved in an accident. Vehicle was parked and emergency brake did not engage, vehicle rolled backwards into an unoccupied school bus. Manufacturer notified. Feel free provide any further details on this matter.
For the last year, my parking brake has not worked at all. If engaged, it will release itself. I took the Jeep to a mechanic and was told it was a ratchet assembly that was broken. I thought it was just a problem with my Jeep. It was not until I started hearing of many other Jeep owners having the same problem that I became convinced this is a manufacturer defect. I believe a full investigation should begin as I have heard of several people involved in accidents related to this defect. I believe there are many people that are not aware this type of investigation can be started by submitting reports such as this. I was unaware until recently. Thank you for your concern.
The parking brake released, causing the vehicle to roll, resulting in a minor collision. The manufacturer has inspected the vehicle. The inspector was not able to duplicate the problem.
