It's Winter, Christmas time and my Jeep won't start most of the time. I usually keep trying and then once in a while it kicks in. They know me by name. I called Service and they offered for me to bring it back in, considering they just worked on the head gasket, and they asked that I leave it and they would see if it would act up. They gave me a loner.
The Service person said he started it up after it sat all night. He later tried it and again he started it. He said there was an update for the electronic part of the starter and maybe that fixed it. I asked that he keep it one more day and try it again. Later that day I called before I returned the loner and he offered to go start it again. Guess what, I'm not nuts!! It wouldn't start no matter what he tried. He stated he couldn't even press the brake after the initial try. They would keep the Jeep and try to schedule it in for diagnosis.
Today, 12/17/20, about 4 pm they called to say they think they narrowed it down to The Body Control Module. They ordered parts but wouldn't have till next week. Maybe they could get it in for repair on Thursday. This is Christmas Eve. I asked what was this going to cost. (I am furloughed and don't expect to be called back). Again I was told another $108.00, because it's not related to the other repairs.
I love this Jeep very much but I feel like I want to put a big RED X on the sides and drive it around town. I can't afford another payment. This one is fully paid. If I could, it wouldn't be a Jeep. That makes me very sad.
Update from May 10, 2021: This happened another time and I left the Renegade with the dealership. They let it sit overnight. March 2021. They said they had no problem. I picked it up and was just going to suck it up and keep driving because what else could I do? My husband did his research and found me the most beautiful vehicle. A Ford Escape 2021, a Dark Copper Penny color. I'm in love. I traded that Jeep, and the day we went to look at this New Ford, we had wonderful sales and were in that new vehicle that same evening. I had a survey from Google about the Jeep Dealership. I did not say anything terrible, but boy I could have.
