Bought a brand new Jeep Renegade 2017 Latitude 2.4 Engine Automatic 4x4.
I had issues with the brake pedal not depressing at all. Completely stiff, and thus the car would not start. Intermittently. Showed lighting bolt initially on display for months when it wouldn't start. Then I just waited it out, until the car would not start almost all the time.
All lights worked, push button turned on no problem for accessory mode. Windows worked, radio lights etc. I brought it in to be repaired to Jeep 3 times. They did updates? Mystery Updates. Did not fix the issue any of those times.
Finally, just before a year of having the car, they fixed the issue. I actually provided complaints for different vehicles with push button start issues which pushed them in the right direction. I insisted it was not a computer issue but a mechanical one involving the brake pedal. Finally, someone listened!!!
As the brake and push button work to start the car, if the brake doesn't depress then how can the BCM or ECU get the message from the brake pedal to start car.
Just putting this here in case Jeep says that no one else has had the issue like they told me. Of note, at the end of this hell, the display showing the errors behind the wheel had progressed to freaking out saying the key fob was not in the car, the engine was started when it wasn't. The mechanical issue really messed up the vehicle. Seems they didn't want to consider a mechanical issue but only ever thought it was a computer issue. I have been issue free so far for a month!! Starts every time. Let's hope it stays that way.
Update from Aug 2, 2018: Ok, still starting every time!!! And it's now August 2nd.
