Love this car but the 9 speed transmission leaves a lot to be desired. Had this gearbox in the Cherokee and it performed very well so I decided to buy a Renegade with the same gearbox, beginning to think I made a big mistake. Don't think it has ever changed into ninth gear whatever speed I do, I don't think I noticed for the first couple of months as we don't do a great deal of motorway driving but gradually noticed that even at high speed the engine revs were quite high and it wouldn't change into 9th gear unless I selected it manually, when I changed back to auto mode the car would change down to a gear every time even at 90 mph!
When the weather is really cold and the engine is cold it won't change into higher gears until it has reached 3-3.5 revs but does get better as engine temp rises. Poor fuel consumption, 27 mpg around town and not much better on a run. Apart from these issues....... a nice Jeep !
(The loan car the Jeep dealer has given me is a 2 wheel drive 1.6 diesel with a manual 6 speed, 40 mpg around town and a lovely gearbox.....should have bought this model.)
