This car is the demon seed of Jeep and Fiat. Many don't realize it's actually a Fiat 500 with a Jeep body made in Italy. I bought it because I needed a 4wd for work. It has had an ongoing list of issues from day one. The one I'm writing about is the intermittent issue of the key fob deciding when to work. Battery has been replaced on both fobs multiple times yet the issue continues. It all comes down to car recognizing the fob. Sometimes it does and works for days, and other times it acts like the battery is dead. Sometimes it works then won't moments later. Its latest annoyance is when I come to a complete stop and it beeps and tells me Fob has left the car. I did take it in but of course the dealership could find nothing wrong. I've also tried removing battery cable thing with no permanent solution.
For some perverse reason I like the car, but in a way that you like that good looking bats*** crazy girlfriend. She's crazy but so attractive you keep giving her another chance. I will complain about the other issues separately, however the quick list is. Entertainment system is a joke. It sounds good but the interface randomly stops and display says media not recognized. Car phone mike is so bad people can't hear me above road noise. Radiator fan motor went out under 30k. Catalytic converter at 33k. Trim pieces have blown off going down highway. Socket on running lights doesn't make good contact so it melted. Cruise control would disconnect in heavy rain. Going down hills while on cruise it would downshift to a ridiculous gear causing extremely high RPM's and camped out there not come out of it unless put in neutral. Sad thing about it is my problems have been minor compared to much worse problems others have reported.
