Bought 2015 Renegade new. No problems, loved the car. Went on vacation for 2 weeks. Came back Nov 2 Car wouldn't start. Completely dead. Had car towed to mechanic - said need new battery.

2 days later the car wouldn't start. Towed then to dealer. Dealer has had car now for a month. Can't find solution. Some days it starts- some days it won't. They have had a surveillance camera watching it at night to see if anything comes on and drains the battery(which by the way is another new one)

They have replaced the ABS module with the same results. I am a senior citizen and need a car for a few errands I do. This is now annoying. I got in touch with Jeep and when I explained the situation I was either disconnected or hung up on. I am at a lost as what to do next. If someone has had this problem and has had it fixed please give me the solution.

The transmission light, back up light (light is working), air bag light all have began happening regularly even before the fan issue. But no battery light so I am totally in awe. Now the car just won't start and it sounds like the starter but nothing to indicate it is the starter.

I purchased the 2015 Jeep Renegade almost as soon as it came out. First mistake. Since then, I've had it towed back to the dealer 6 times. It has decided not to start 9 times. The car will work one minute, and then if you go back to turn it on, crickets. Nothing happens. The key will no longer automatically unlock the door. The radio will turn on and that's about it. The jeep book says to take the metal part of the key out and put it against the push to start, then push the brake, but that does nothing.

Chrysler's Customer Assistant and the Jeep service departments at multiple dealers have been less than helpful in trying to solve the problem. The Jeep dealer that I recently had the car towed to-Baystate Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Newton MA complained that I made this problem their problem. Oh, I'm sorry, this isn't inconvenient for me one bit. Last week they said that they were going to replace the main frame and they ordered the parts to do that. Then I get a call saying that higher ups canceled the order and said they had to try something else first. So they tried to replace a "faulty ground" and said that should do it. They tested the starter 100 times since then, worked liked a charm. Cut to 3 days later when I'm stranded an hour and a half away from the dealer that "fixed" it. The next closest Jeep Dealer said they couldn't get it to it that day and I needed to work the next day so we had it towed an hour and a half back to Baystate. Now Baystate won't help with a rental car because "they don't have any". So I'm left without a car when I rely on my car every single day for work.

This has been so upsetting, has anyone found a solution to the problem?

I leave to go home from work get in start the car to let it warm up, few minutes go by and then the car dies. smoke starts coming from the hood of the car and this awful burning plastic smell comes with it. now my car wont start. call the dealer the give me a roadside assistance number to call and after an hour calling and waiting for assistance, the phone kept disconnecting. I got thru after an hour and a half, with a very bad connection. they called me back and I told them my car was in a garage with 7 feet clearance. I waited three and a half hours for tow truck, and they sent the wrong truck. Now take in mind the dealer doesn't have a loaner car for me and no rental car. I'm stuck. brand new car and I'm out in the cold.

Despite 2 breaks down with every warning light and engine cutting out then no power what so ever recovery twice by breakdown 1st time 10 days at garage then given back and told all fixed. Then exactly 1 week later safe fault all warning lights on dash followed by no power. Recovered again by Jeep on 22nd June and still not got car back 29th today. Jeep do not know how to fix the fault. Car hire provided but 30.00€ per day to cover excess which Jeep are refusing to pay .

So really really angry they can't fix my car because they don't know how too and I have to wait day after day paying 30.00€ absolutely disgusted with Jeep. They couldn't care a less. Expect me to wait while Jeep maintenance try and work out what's wrong currently today they are stripping back the entire dash could take 2 days apparently. So I will have no alternative but to hand hire car back due to the charge so Jeep your making me careless your customer care or total lack of it stinks.

I have difficulty starting this vehicle very often. I depress the brake and press start however at least once a day the vehicle will not start on the first or second attempt. I had the dealer address this issue and they said nothing was wrong....go figure. First time I ever purchased a Jeep and perhaps the very last time. They do not give me confidence they know how to fix a problem. Previously I have owned General Motors, VW and mini cooper vehicles and never had dealer issues like this....as a 70 year old lady it gives me cause for concern and it should concern Jeep but apparently it does not. I am going to make an appt at another Jeep dealership to see if they know what they are doing.

New Jeep Renegade only a few weeks old. This is the second time the battery was dead. Second time at the dealer. They claim the problem is that the key fob is too close to car and it drains the battery. What a bunch of crap!. The battery went dead the first time and the the key fob was far away from car. We bought this car so that my wife would have a reliable car to take to our vacation home in the mountains. Now we can't take the chance that she will break down when she goes there. I have never seen a bunch of no nothing people trying to fix the car. I don't blame them because it is Chrysler that is feeding them the bull crap. Car coming back tomorrow. My wife says if it happens again she will park the car at the dealership and stop making payments. Believe me she will.

My vehicle is still practically brand new...so when I had only owned it for 2 and half months, and this happened, you can imagine the frustration I felt.

My Jeep had been acting a little funny when locking it, as the horn that sounds when pushing the lock button on the fob, the horn was sounding really weak. I didn't really think much about it at first. But about 3 weeks or so after that started happening, (sometimes it would sound normal and other times weak, within the 3 week period)

I went to start my Jeep to go to work, and it wouldn't start. It turned over twice, but wouldn't start...mind you, the lights, radio, everything else electrical, worked fine. I had it towed into the shop, they checked the battery, alternator, starter, and they were all fine. There were codes for a software update, which they performed. My vehicle still has hiccups where it wont start...and of course the horn is still weak sounding at times, but the shop Jeep store still says there are no error codes or issues with it.

In October, I noticed that my car was having a hard time starting. It was like the battery or starter was going bad. I took it to the shop and they said I must of left something on and the battery needed recharging. I disagreed but, of course, what did I know?

Three days later, the car would not start. I had lights and radio but no engine. I had to be towed to the shop. 5 hours later I was told it was the battery and that I must of left something on. They recharged it and sent me on my way.

It started again in mid-November and I replaced the battery just to see if it was a bad battery. Guess what? NO! I took the car into the dealership on 27 November that had previously patted me on the head and said "battery" and explained the problem again. I got the smile again. I basically had a temper tantrum and they decided to "look" at it. The next morning they called me and said it appeared to be a drain on the battery as the battery was dead.

Fast forwarded 8 days - I was told today that I have a "parasitic" battery drain and they are still looking for it.

I hate this car and the dealership. They are "hoping" to have it fixed in the next couple of day. Fortunately for me they have provided me with a rental car that I paid for in when I bought my car in July. This car was less that 2 months old when I bought it. I really do believe this Jeep is a lemon.

Update from Jan 18, 2016: They said after almost 3 weeks of having my car that it was the body door module that was bad. I don't believe this jeep is a lemon - I know it.

Judging from other complaints this is a problem with the Jeep Renegades. Seeing as they are meant to be a car that you can take on an adventure, this reliability problem is huge. You could be out in the middle of the dessert and have your car not start, very scary and definitely not cool.

I had to deal with "roadside assistance" (not very helpful) for 6 hours until I was able to get to a dealership. I've had this car since April 27 so there is NO REASON this should be happening on a BRAND NEW CAR.

On Thursday Nov 5, I went to start my car. It unlocked when I pulled the handle and the lights came on. I pushed the brake and pushed the start button and it clicked and then everything went dark. I tried again and nothing happened, the brake pedal was hard, wouldn't give at all. I called the dealer and told them what was going on, they told me to have it towed the next day. I wasn't able to use the key fob to lock the door so had to use the valet key.

Next day I call the Chrysler towing and they sent someone to jump my jeep. After a minute we were able to get it started and then it gave every warning light available, from check engine to power steering. It stayed on so they guy told me to leave it for 20 mins to let it charge. Within 5 mins it clicked and was dead. Nothing would happen. Call Chrysler towing again and get them to tow it to the dealer. The mechanic calls me back later and tells me that its a computer issue and that it needs an update. I haven't received any information since then. Vehicle was purchased Aug 29, 2015 with approx 105 miles on it.

I bought my Renegade Aug 6 2015. On Aug 16, a message appeared saying the FOB was not detected and another message saying the FOB needed service. I figured this must be a glitch, considering I bought the car less than 2 weeks ago. I made it home safely, but I noticed when I shut the door the (P) on the gear shift was still on along with the lights around my screen. I didn't think anything of it because the lights stay on for 30sec, or however long after, and then shut off.

On Aug 17, I got in my car to go to work put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button. The car engine turned on for 3 sec and then died. The radio, AC, and lights continued to stay on. I tried it again and the engine didn't even try to turn over. Then I noticed a symbol light that turned on, located above the (P) on my dashboard. THE SYMBOL WAS A CAR AND A PADLOCK. This symbol is NOT IN THE CAR MANUAL. Obviously, signifying some sort of security issue.

I called the service department at the dealership I bought the car from and they were no help. Then I called a different dealership and they were no help either. I didn't want to have my car towed considering IT'S ONLY 11 DAYS OLD. Roadside assistance took 3 hours to get to my house. Then we had problems trying to get the Park Assist brake to go off. He finally got the car in (N) and rolled it out of my garage. The car is now sitting at the dealer waiting to be looked at. Aug 18, I went to the dealership to get something out of my car and when the service guy tried to use the FOB to open the car, it was completely dead. They said they will call me today (Aug 18) and let me know what is going on with it.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning...

Had to have Chrysler Road side service come jump the car to get the key out of the ignition. After several minutes we turned it off and it would not start again. Had to have it jumped again and drive it straight to the dealer. Of course I was not a happy camper but I told the service adviser I was not pissed at him but at the fact my brand new vehicle was here for the 2nd time. Stated he would have my adviser come in and give me an update. That never happened. I had to pull teeth to get any information.

Final diagnosis, they gave the battery a full charge. Locks still did not work with key or manually with door button. Did a software or electrical push to resolve. No one knew why it happened.

Not liking my 1st Jeep. Ready to give it back, sh*tty car, and sh*tty service.

Renegade won't start. Dealer says keys need to be reprogrammed. Instrument panel also threw emergency brake system failure and ECM module failure; however, they aren't able to look into that problem until they can start the vehicle again. Waiting on new keys to arrive to be reprogrammed. If that doesn't work - computer module needs to be replaced, which they don't have access to at this time.

After one day as an owner of a 2015 Jeep Renegade with 36 miles on it, it failed to start. This happened when the vehicle was sitting for a period of an hour or more. I took it back to the dealership. The service adviser told me that the Renegade needed a computer update. This took several days to complete. Afterwards, I picked it up and it started fine. Then when I got home and tried to start the Renegade 3 hours later, it failed to start again.

Indeed, for the first month of ownership, I have had the Renegade back at the dealer's service department for 3 weeks out of 4 for the same starting issue. I have been in a rental for for 3 weeks. Finally, the service adviser called, and advised me that the Chrysler engineers are aware of the problem and that I need to keep the Renegade until the end of September or until the final computer update is ready. This has been a pain in the ass, because right now the Renegade starts about 70 percent of the time. For me, this is totally unacceptable! As of now, I am keeping a log of the dates and times the Renegade fails to start.

Vehicle won't start. When we tried to start it the AC came on and blew cold, radio works perfectly, but engine makes clicking noise as if the battery is dead. Light came on saying the power steering needs to be serviced, as well as another light saying electronic throttle control. It is being towed to be fixed.
