This is a pervasive problem. I read on Jeep Renegade forums about this 4x4 service light issue occurring earlier for other owners, some as early as 800 miles, others at 1400 miles. Mine didn't occur until 11,000 miles. So far, I have had it in the shop going on three times now. I dropped if off once on 4/6/16, updated software and light is still on. Another on 4/23/16 because light still comes on at 11,829 miles, and then again this week on 5/4/16. It's taken time off work, reshuffling schedules to drop off the car and pick it up.
Initially, I was impressed with this crossover Mid-size SUV with all its designed capabilities, I now have to unfortunately say that impression is now turned into disappointment. I am hoping third time is a charm and that it will finally get fixed.
I like to hike in back country so can you imagine what I'd run into if 4x4 becomes disabled while I am driving on uneven dirt road alongside a steep mountain. Yes, you imagined right. I have to trust my equipment. Right now, trust in this trail hawk renegade is a joke. I can't even trust it to take me to the grocery store.
