Just sitting in my car with the air and music going, waiting during this Cov-19 on the Vet getting my dog's tags and shots for this year. While just sitting, the head rest blew up and struck me hard in the back of the head. It knocked me very dizzy, and I almost passed out, with my neck and head hurt badly. If I were driving I feel for sure I may have had a wreck. In fact, I thought I was hit from behind, so after gathering my senses, I opened the door and walked outside the car and nothing was around me nor hit my car. I was very shaken and unsure just what happened. This was scary to say the least. No air bag deployed, the head rest simply blew up coming apart and springing out into the back of my head.
I took it to the dealership and they told me they never heard of such a thing happening. They told me it would cost me $160.00 just to have the mechanic look at the problem and suggest a solution for me. After 4 hours waiting in their lobby they called me to tell me they could not fix the problem today, they do not have the parts and it will be another week to two weeks to get the part in. They asked for my Extended warranty, and stated there would be a $100.00 deductible cost to be paid when the part comes in and they repaired the problem. This does not seem fair as I was not hit from behind or ran into anything, it just exploded and struck me in the head. There has to be some electrical or manufacture problem as I was not even moving just running the air and listening to the radio while waiting for the vet to return my dog. I really don't think this is fair to charge me for Jeep's problem.
