Patriot 2.0L

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

WHEN GOING UP A SMALL HILL, THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDS LIKE IT IS SCREAMING. TOOK A TRIP TO SAN DIEGO IN OCTOBER OF 2014 AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO LET THE TRANSMISSION COOL DOWN BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE LOUD SCREAMING NOISE. AFTER 20 MINUTES I WENT ON THE ROAD AND IT STOPPED FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND THEN STARTED UP AGAIN. CALLED THE SERVICE PLACE IN TUCSON AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO REPORT OF ANY PROBLEMS AND COULD ONLY LOOK AT IT WHEN IT MAKES THE NOISE. THIS IS THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. HAS NO POWER, GAS MILEAGE IS A JOKE, I AM ALWAYS AT THE GAS STATION. CAN NOT WAIT TO TRADE THIS HORRIBLE VEHICLE IN.

NOW HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS CAP LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND THE RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TWO DAYS LATER IT CAME BACK ON. NOW I AM BEING TOLD YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE AN ORIGINAL GAS CAP WHICH IS $80, THIS IS A BUNCH OF BULL, A 2013 VEHICLE ALREADY HAVING ALL THIS PROBLEMS!!

I WROTE A LETTER TO JEEP AND NEVER ONCE GOT A REPLY! I WILL "NEVER" BUY A JEEP PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!

Patriot 2.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 30,000 miles

You wouldn't think a new vehicle with manual transmission would be roaring after only 30,000 miles. I had a geo metro 5 speed that I put 200,000 miles on and never once had a problem with transmission or shifting. This is a Jeep, they are suppose to be rugged. We only use it for back and to work, no off roading or rough driving.

Update on 04/23/14: We bought this Patriot new in Jan 2013 and this year (2014) at under 34000 miles we have already had to be towed 3 times. The first time it had to have the transmission rebuilt. The second time the cable that goes from the shifter to the transmission came undone. Now it seems that the transmission has gone out again, (It's at the dealer as I write this).

My wife was driving it yesterday and said the shifting started acting up and when she went to go into second gear it started making an awful noise and scared her so she pulled off the side of the road and shut it down. We were getting ready to go on vacation for a week this weekend and now I am going to have to rent a car. We bought this vehicle to have at least one dependable vehicle for trips and now I don't trust it anymore. I have a 45 year old Rambler and a 13 year old Toyota that I would trust before I trust this vehicle. It looks like this one's headed for the Lemon law.
