The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated the accelerator pedal on the vehicle snapped. The vehicle started to slow down and he did not realize that the accelerator pedal broke. The contact stopped the vehicle and noticed that the accelerator pedal was broken. The broken pedal had approximately an inch of the stem connected to the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected. The contact was concerned that the failure was a severe safety hazard, because the accelerator was made out of plastic. The failure and current mileage was 7,100. Updated 9/13/11 updated 2/21/12...updated 10/03/12 the consumer the stated the dealer was made aware of the failed and the vehicle was repaired. The same type of pedal arm was used to repair the vehicle as before. Updated 10/09/2012
