I took the vehicle to the dealership (Brewbaker Chrysler/Jeep, Montgomery, AL) because the light came on indicating the throttle body wasn't working properly. They ran a diagnostic test on it and said the throttle body assembly would have to be replaced, but the parts were on back order and they didn't know when the parts would be available. They also said they needed me to pick my car up because they didn't have room to store it until it could be repaired. They charged $98.00 to diagnose. They did say I could continue to drive the vehicle but it would be aggravating because it won't go over 45 mph.
When I got home I did some research and found that it is recommended that when this light and code comes up, I should have the car towed and the vehicle may not be safe to drive. I called a couple of Jeep part's places and found out that the parts required are on back order and there were supposed to be 400 shipped at the end of January, which weren't and another 1500 are on back order. Nobody could tell me when the part will be available so I'm making payments on this vehicle that nobody has parts to repair.
With this many problems with this part, I think the vehicle should have a recall on it and the manufacture should have to provide a vehicle for people to drive while they can catch up with the backlog of parts. I am interested in filing a class action lawsuit against the manufacture of the part and vehicle. rherring5378@yahoo.com
