My wife had to use the Jeep Patriot (2011) to go to school last Tuesday Night . She called me at home and said that the Jeep would not start . She tried to have it jumped and still-nothing!! But everything else was working (lights , radio etc.etc.) so we already figured that it wasn't the battery . ---So , had to have the Jeep towed to nearest Jeep dealer . ---Now it just gets worse !!!--- The service guy calls me on Thursday Morning , and tells me that I need a new starter - at $546.00 . --- I said "o.k.--thats cool . Whatever . Its under warranty anyway ". -- He replied" OH!?!? I didn't know that !?!? -- Well--O.k.-Let me call you back and verify everything ".. About 10 minutes later , he calls back and says " We wanted to make sure it was the starter , and than a code showed up that it wasn't"> .---Before I go any further , I was like WHAT ???? He just said it was the starter ! And when I told him that it was still under warranty , he changed his mind and said something else !--- (so now I just feel suspicious). -----Now---- He said that the key FOB was not working . They are going to now only charge me $4 hundred and some-odd dollars to replace. ---OH----When he called me back the 3rd time , he said that there was no extended warranty).----O.K.--- So now , I am being charged to have the module replaced and re-set or God Only Knows What Else !!!! (very confusing)!!!----- I said "well what if my other key starts the Jeep "?? He said " Well you can try . If it starts , well thats great !! You just need to have the other key fixed . If it still does not start , well you have to have the darn thing replaced ($4 hundred or so )". ------ To end this , - I drove up there with my wife , I saw the Jeep--- I put the other key in ---- and it started !!! Thank God !!!!!!!! ---But still---I gotta somehow get that other key to be fixed and re-set or something . --- I am just really annoyed !!! What if I spent all that money on a new starter ??????? What if I spent all that money on a new FOB / KEY Module ?????? And all kinds of crazy sh*t is happening to this 2011 JEEP Patriot after my basic warranty had expired !!?? (I have already a couple other complaints listed on this site ). ---- Did anyone else go thru this ??????
