Patriot Latitude 2.4L

The Patriot is from Colorado, a very dry climate, and the sub frame is rotting out. The rest of the car is fine with no rust but the subframe is significantly rusted. After some looking around, it is a very common problem with Patriots in this year. Much worse when they are on salted roads.

If you are thinking of buying one take a look at the sub frame - you will most likely see it rusted.

Purchased new tires....technician noticed front sub frame rotted all the way through..tried to replace front drivers side wheel bearing...axle severely corroded. Said he had only seen metal this bad on a 30 year old vehicle.. point of total metal breakage..he discovered a Jeep service bulletin # 23-007-17 REV C, Group 23 Body, Dated July 13 2017. Covering Dodge Caliber 2008-2012 and Jeep Compass/Patriot 2008-2012 Front and rear cross member corrosion. Dealer covered replacement of front cross member and labor. Other severe rusting not covered or addressed. Beware other rusted parts breaking could be a big safety issue that Jeep isn't addressing. Knowing my daughter drove this car scared me to death.

Buyer beware this vehicle isn't worth a dime. Can't pass safety with a rotted subframe. Chrysler has had 3 weeks to determine their duties...nothing yet and dealership says they're all like that!!

This vehicle is very well maintained, has brand new tires on it and was driven by my wife, upon seeing the subframe it was hard not to puke thinking of what could have happened to her, my children or grandchildren. Chrysler legal is 'looking' into the issue to see about repairs but hasn't yet notified me or done a recall....if you're driving one of these get it checked out for road worthiness!!!
