Picked up the vehicle after leaving at the dealership from 5/28 - 6/27. On 6/26 I received call from Tammy at Chrysler that a Chrysler rep and technician had gone to the dealership to look at my vehicle. They started the car 20-30 times with no issue and could not replicate any problems. I was then told that the Chrysler representative had recommended to the dealership that if we did not pick up the vehicle by Monday 6/30/2014 that the dealership should start charging us storage fees. We were forced to pick up the vehicle even though nothing had been repaired on it on 6/27/2014.

After driving the vehicle every day on 7/04/2014 I was driving the vehicle to go to the grocery store and as I turned out of the apartment complex the car died as I entered the street onto a 6 lane parkway going south. We tried for several minutes to get the car to start. A police officer came up behind us and called for a tow since it was going to take our insurance company too long to arrive. (We were in the middle lane next to an island so nowhere for us to push the car out of traffic) While waiting for the tow my husband was able to get the vehicle to start after about 10-15 minutes sitting in the street. The police officer followed him to ensure that the vehicle did not stall again until he was able to drive down to the intersection lights and turn around to safely return the vehicle to the apartment complete parking lot. The car has been parked ever since then. I am too afraid to drive it and can not afford to keep paying for more "diagnostic tests" or tows for an issue that apparently can not be fixed.

Update from Dec 29, 2014: I took car into a real mechanic and not the dealership. He inspected the car and found a lot of rust so he cleaned rust off of the all grounded wiring throughout the car. I had explained to him that my husband was able to get the car started after it stalled. My husband told him that he was sure the issue was in the steering column. The mechanic was able to verify that a fuse box located inside the steering column was loose and shorting out. He tightened this and made sure it was secure. I have been driving the vehicle now for 2 months with absolutely no random stalling

2007 Jeep Patriot - stalling while driving, stalling when slowing to stop, RPMs fluctuate without hitting gas or brakes, and sometimes the engine continues to run even though it is turned off and key removed. Took it to the dealer who initially said they couldn't replicate the issue. I directed them to try again - this time DRIVE the vehicle off of the lot and do not rely on a computer to find a bad sensor. Dealer called back to say the fuel tank vent shut valve needs to be replaced. I asked if they replicated the problem but the dealer couldn't confirm - said the tech looked at it and other forums and determined it was the vent shut valve and it will cost me $1500 to fix. I don't trust this assessment.

I asked if the TIPM is failing - dealer says no because the computer didn't provide an indicator warning that the TIPM is bad. I don't trust this - the computer didn't identify the fuel tank vent shut valve either. Also - last year I took car to same dealer because the check engine light was on but no mechanical issues observed. Dealer said sensor is weird and just replaced the gas cap. I asked if these issues could be related and dealer says no. I don't trust them.

I asked about TSB or recalls for the Patriot. Dealer said they do NOT report anything back to Chrysler about faulty engines, parts, electronics in any vehicle; it is up to the customer to complain to Chrysler directly.
