Liberty JET V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

On a normal day, all of a sudden the lights on my dashboard lit up light a Christmas tree. The speedometer stopped working also and it says my parking brake is on when it is not. I have to wait until Monday to get it into the shop, but the codes read U1110 and U1120. Everything I have read said it has to do with the TIPM.

Liberty

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,232 miles

My 2011 Liberty Sport with 87,232 miles on it it had the engine light came on and just recently started throwing high RPM's at 60 & 65 MPH and losing drive power and was only able to 40 MPH. It would not shift into 3 gear, now makes me think.. a month ago.. the Jeep completely lost power and stalled out at 70-75 miles per hour, we hauled it to where I purchased it ... and almost $300 later, the Jeep dealership said it was a battery with 2 dry cells..

Anyway...I take it to a shop and had a diagnostics ran on it 2 weeks ago and it threw a Reversing Solenoid code. Next day, I am able to drive it 60 MPH again, then same thing happens so.. we take it to Fairfield, Tx, the same Freestone County Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep previously..and have it put on their machine. We were told that it had a faulty TIPM and it was not covered under my 100,000 mile warranty because it is electrical and that the part was only available in Fort Worth and Oklahoma. Fort Worth wouldn't give me the part so it is coming in from OK. The total on this repair is going to be around $1,200-$1,400

This is a manufacturing issue.. and obviously NOT just isolated to just the Cherokees, Caravans, Durangos and the 300's.

So I ask, what's next for us, will we spontaneously combust, will we die in an auto accident for no air bags??? Will my children, husband and myself perish before there is any action taken against Chrysler for these defects?

Update from Nov 5, 2015: My Jeep has been in the dealership shop for about 3 months. I was called and asked to pick it up on 11/3/2015. It is still un-repaired because they cannot figure out what it wrong with it. In the beginning, they replaced my battery. Almost a month later, I lost overdrive in my transmission so we took it back in to the dealership. They tracked down a short in the wiring to the transmission. That cost me $1,000.00 after that they have initially replaced the TIPM and in process of them doing that, my 2nd into the 3rd gear then 3rd back into 2nd started grinding so I took it back the very next day. They have since decided and replaced every part in the transmission since it was covered under the warranty and still can’t figure out what is wrong. They put me into a vehicle during this time but now they cannot do this because they can’t fix my Jeep and made me pick it up yesterday (11/4/15). It is still warranted and I want to trade this Liberty in. This has been going on since June 6, 2015. I would appreciate help and assistance and not just given the run around. This has gone on for the last 3 months and no resolution. The dealership informed me that a field engineer needed to take a look at the Jeep to decide what the next step will be. The ticket has not been “closed out”. I’m taking the necessary measures in making contact with the B.B.B in my area and the FTC as well to see what option I have to ensure that this can be resolved. I have thought about an attorney due to the fact that it has been 3 solid months and it’s still not fixed. I was glad to have had a car in lieu of mine being in the shop but having to continue to pay for something that is broken is not what I have in mind as far as having a nice vehicle. I am concerned for the safety of myself and my children given the fact the fact Freestone County Dodge cannot figure out what is wrong… that’s enough to be alarmed in my book. But yet, they want me to drive my Liberty until a field engineer can take a look at it.
