The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Liberty. While driving 70 mph, the sky slider roof began to separate from the vehicle. The contact taped the sky slider shut; however, water began to seep through the tape. The contact also stated that the turn signals, windows, and driver side door panel became inoperable over time. The local dealer (atlantic Chrysler Jeep, 6820 tilton road, egg harbor township, NJ 08234) was contacted and stated that the failure would recur if repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that a mildew odor was present. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
Gate light indicator appeared on dash. This has happened several times since - usual during moist weather conditions. Also, for no reason, the back gate latch has either come apart or broke.
At speed above 55 or in heavy winds the sound of air coming through the sunroof can be very disconcerting. Turning up the radio to hear it becomes a must. The sudden gusts cause you to take your eyes off the road at times. With the increased noise it becomes increasingly difficult to hear outside noise which could easily become a safety concern. The local Jeep dealer says there is no fix, and not to worry unless it leaks. He also stated he had seen this problem before. My call to customer service ( I have the ref # if needed) resulted in much the same discourse. [xxx] was nice enough but did not have a satisfactory answer to my dilemma. He certainly would not admit to a design flaw with no way to tighten the soft sunroof down. Nor is there presently a hard top to eliminate the problem, he indicated when I pressed him. The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Liberty jet. The contact was driving 10 mph when the chrome covers of the side view mirrors detached from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer replaced the covers. The failure mileage was 15,185.
