High beam headlights went off while driving in dark on 55mph highway. I quickly switched back to low beam and very soon they too turned off; this while traveling in total darkness at 55mph. Now neither high nor low beam head lights worked. I turned on emergency flashers and used the reflections from road edge reflectors to show me where I was. Heavy early morning traffic was building and I feared not being clearly being seen by opposing 2 lane road traffic There was no place to safely pull off pavement with on visibility.. Problem has been diagnosed as defective TIPM (Totally Intergraded Power Module) by my mechanic. Part cost has been quoted as $1075 from Jeep and repair, reprogramming, and labor totaling about $1500.00.
DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A BACK ROAD AND YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT IS DANGEROUS. THANK GOD I DID NOT GO OFF THE ROAD. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED.............
