There is a lighting bolt and my check engine light that comes on, when trying to start my car it acts like it wants to start but just throttles, I'll turn it off and try again. it takes about 10 times to try and start it and then it finally starts. My locks on my door will not work and if I hit my alarm on my car it makes my alarm keep going off. Its been a problem Ive seen a lot with Jeep Liberty. it needs to be a RECALL!!!!!!!!

Liberty LTD V6

TIPM issue started with dashboard warning lights periodically coming on then horn blaring in the middle of the night with angry neighbors yelling and me scrambling to pull the applicable fuse. Then door locks, power windows and hazard light operating intermittently on their own as well as air bag warning lights coming on. Eventually multiple misfires, rough idling and rough engine noise when accelerating.

I bought a used TIPM and cannot seem to get it to work I believe this is a result of my battery having been drained so many times due to TIPM issues. Though my battery charger says fully charged there are no dash lights when the car door is opened and limited power to seat adjustment etc. Stuck with next step seemingly to replace the battery.

I have just realized that this is a common failure of this model and a lot of safety hazards for the driver and passengers are involved. It is unacceptable that the manufacturer has not issued an early worldwide warning and have replaced the defective TIPM units at no cost.

As my car is completely out of service I will contact Chrysler for a solution. If they don´t provide a timely solution I will have to buy a TIPM replacement and hope that this complaint will succeed to recover the money.

Over 2 weeks ago, I was coming home with my 2 year old son, and as we came off the highway, the battery light came on... then the ABS and then a bunch of other random lights on the dash popped on and beeped at me. The more I slowed down, the more lights that came on and blinked at me like it was possessed. I heard the car die right as I was coasting into a gas station. Tried to jump with 3 different cables and it wouldn't jump. Next day, replaced the battery and it started up fine. Drove to work (about 5 miles) and the battery light came on again as I came across a hill. More dash lights came on and it died... again.

Had a mechanic replace the alternator, and then we had to get a 2nd new battery because I killed the first one. Later that day I drove it around, and after about 5-10 minutes of driving, as I was coming up a hill, the battery light came on. Turned around and came home. Next day I drove about 10 minutes across town and back and the light came on again, but it made it. I thought maybe the battery was just trying to get charged up, so I drove on the highway for about an hour and it was fine. When I came off the highway, all the dash lights started coming on and dinging at me... and then it died again in a parking lot. Would jump at first but rpm meter would jump up and down and then die. Eventually it wouldn't jump at all.

So... we thought the alternator was bad. Replaced the alternator AGAIN. Jumped the vehicle, let it sit running for about 10 minutes. Revved the engine and it died. Wouldn't start. Won't even click.

Called Jeep and they thought it was a bad PCM. Mechanic rented a special tool to test it out... results are the PCM is fine... but the TIPM Module is bad. Came across this site and the lawsuit about faulty TIPM Modules and I'm furious! Now all my other weird issues are making sense... radio dials sometimes don't work... Sometimes it stalls in the cold at random times. And then it dying on me randomly, with no other warnings that things were going wrong.

I'm already getting the runaround from Love Field Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Dallas, TX. Chrysler needs to recall a lot more vehicles than what they did last year!

Drove Jeep home from work one winter day, no problems. Later wouldn't start. Battery checked and swapped, still wouldn't start. Called CAA. Just as CAA arrived, the Jeep started just fine. No issues for several months until recently (beginning of the next winter) when my wife had the Jeep stall on her without warning. Not just the engine cut out, all the electrical as well. No engine, no radio, nothing. After a moment, she starts right back up without problem. This happened to my wife 3 times and was terrifying.

Got it checked at dealer the day after the first time it happened. No codes, of course. They started replacing spark plugs and such until I mentioned that wouldn't kill the electrical. Then they understood it could be TIPM related and said it could take 2 weeks for a new TIPM. I told them I don't want my wife or daughter in that Jeep unless it's fixed. They gave me a courtesy car free while their mechanic drove it for 2 weeks trying to see if it happened again. It did not. Mechanic also added a nice chip in the windshield. :( So I just had the TIPM replaced to the tune of around $900. Too early to tell if it resolves the issue but the paranoia of a possible accident isn't fun. Not sure why this model isn't part of the lawsuit or recall, but they'd better get around to it. Anybody know if the same faulty TIPM is used in a 2010 Liberty? Thanks.

Car will not start and needs to be jumped about once every 2 weeks. Radio does not work. One time, when trying to unlock the doors the panic alarm went off and would not stop until the key was in the ignition.

As it turns out the problem did not cause any physical harm, unless you consider the cost, but oddly enough there was another liberty, a year older, in for the same problem. This car company has like many other companies decided to not stand behind the product. It should not take a class action law suite to get a manufacturer to stand behind their product. I have owned and worked on more cars and trucks than I can even remember. Never have I had a TIPM Fuse panel go out on one. Now there are millions of them bad and the company would have you believe it's my problem. I think not.

The fastest way to fix this is to recommend to all that will listen. DO NOT purchase a Chrysler product until they come forward and say, and do, we will fix issues due to low bid bad engineering that they chose to use. It is too bad really, I have had two of these and was thinking about another... not now. The dealership has been very good to me, in the end they will suffer because I and many others will look else where for dependable transportation.
