The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While driving at speeds of 60 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck in the open throttle position. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and advised the vehicle was safe to drive. Later, while driving at speeds of 60 mph, the failure occurred a second time. The contact stated the brakes would not engage. The current and failure mileages were 26,000.
The contact leases a 2008 Jeep Liberty. On April 7, 2008, while driving 45 mph, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and it became stuck. The vehicle continued to accelerate and the brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the accelerator throttle failed. The failure recurred on June 6, 2008 and the vehicle is currently at the dealer. The contact called the manufacturer and requested a replacement, and they stated that they would attempt to correct the failure. The current mileage was 5,800 and failure mileage was 3,200.
