I am writing to you today to voice a complaint about a rather unfortunate situation I faced with my Jeep Cherokee (2008 model). Initially, let me point out that I have been a Jeep Cherokee owner since 1986. I have always ensured that service is up to date and only at the authorized service center of the AAV.
Last week as I was in my car I was stunned to find the car suddenly died in the middle of the road. Then the front and back wipers as well as the horn and turn signals all started going on in a haphazard fashion. Then what extremely alarmed me was the sight of smoke from the motor on the driver's side and then actual flames coming out of the fuse box!
Naturally, I panicked and chose to quickly get out of the car only to be further stunned that the car locked itself with the fire extinguisher and all my belongings inside. Luckily, there were no passengers locked in the car. A passerby was then kind enough to help me extinguish the flames and I ran home to fetch the spare key. I then arranged to have the car towed to the AAV service center.
It has now been 17 days since the car was admitted and I have received no concrete explanation as to the reason for this mishap. Not to mention, that today the manager of the service center made a rather provocative remark that that the mileage on the car (107,000 Km) might be the reason for such an incident! I am sure you will agree that one is not supposed to simply dispose of the car at 100,000 Km! Especially when it has been so well cared for...
I am still anxiously awaiting a reply and plan of action from AAV. I would like to know who is supposed to be held responsible for such damage to a supposedly well maintained vehicle. I hope to receive your feedback very soon and hope you understand the immense inconvenience I have experienced, not to mention my reluctance to proceed with my prior plans to purchase the Grand Cherokee 2014.
