This Jeep is a Lemon. I've had nothing but problems since I first bought the car used in 2010. First was a sensor ABT going off that had to be repaired twice. Then all the windows had to have the mechanism replaced to have the windows go up and down. Now the check engine light keeps coming on with the gas cap notification light. Gas cap was replaced and the check engine light went off and came back on with the gas cap light again. When pumping gas, it overflows so I can't let it pump until filled. It took almost a year for the Jeep dealerships here to get the trailer hitch welded on my vehicle due to the recall.

I recently purchased this vehicle. I had no idea that the gas tank overflowed. My daughter is the one who usually drives the Jeep and she told me that the gas overflowed on her a couple of times.

The gas tank overflows 95% of the time I fill up. How in the world can this not be a recall?

If I am pumping gas, it will not automatically shut off and spills outside the vehicle. Even if I am pumping by hand, and not have it pumping itself, it just overflows and doesn't stop until I release the handle. Very annoying, embarrassing, and wasting my pennies!

I have come very close to being covered with gasoline as it really shoots out. I even talked to national number when my dealer said some Jeeps were covered for the problem but not mine and they refused.

Liberty Sport 3.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,900 miles

We are the second owners of this vehicle. It had 8,814 miles on it when we purchased it in October, 2013. We didn't know of the spillage problem until we filled the tank. It does it every time we fill it. I questioned the dealership about it and they said there was no recall or solution offered by Chrysler. I have noticed that the gas pump nozzle won't go into the filler neck very far and this could be the issue. Most vehicle filler necks allow the nozzle to go in to where the rubber flange on the nozzle contacts the the neck, allowing more pressure when the fuel reaches the nozzle tip to shut it off.

I cannot fill up my tank because it shoots out everywhere. My 9 year old wants to stand outside while I pump gas and I can't let him out of fear of gas everywhere.

Since I bought my Jeep brand new in 2008, this has been a problem. I have conditioned myself to make sure I stop the pump at just over 18.5 gallons so that gas doesn't come pouring out all over me. However, it still happens EVERY time I leave the gas pump in my tank to fill unattended.

When filling the fuel tank with gas the tank cannot take the fuel going at a very fast rate and will spill over when it gets close to full. It will spill if left on the auto shutoff and you have to be very careful and slow doing it manually. we bought this new and it was around the 25000 mile mark it started. This is not acceptable and should be a recall to fix seeing that many have had this issue. I may try to find a fix but should have to repair a issues that was only about 3 years old or only 25000 miles on a vehicle. This doesn't help Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep when you have these issues. i am a Mopar person all my life and really sick of problems with the newer vehicles. Fix this issue please a dedicated owner of Mopar vehicles.

I heard there was a recall for this for the wrangler, what about the other models? It's not like Jeep decided to put a completely different valve on just the wrangler than they do on all their other models? I have to make sure I stop the gas from the pump so it doesn't overflow and splatter everywhere including on me.

This is a dangerous vehicle. How can Chrysler permit fuel flying out of the tank when filling up? I have notified my family and personal attorney so that if I should be injured, burned or killed while filling up my Jeep to hold no one else accountable except Chrysler.
