I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty and @ 44,000 miles I had to have the compressor replaced, the auto shop stated that the wires burned out and this stop the compressor working, I asked how this could have been prevented and the mechanic stated that this could have not been avoided due to the way Jeep has the compressor housed. This cost me over $1,000.
