The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the sunroof failed to close as needed. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 198,000.
While driving with my daughter, I pushed the button to close the open sunroof and heard a loud popping noise. A part flew off of the vehicle and the sunroof would no longer close. After taking it to the dealership, it was determined that the entire module failed and needed replacing. I only had 37,500 miles on the vehicle. This repair cost over $1000 and had to be done as a security issue would exist with an open sunroof that is not able to be closed. Contacted Chrysler Jeep and they refused to cover any of the cost for this defective part.
