Clutch safety switch on 2006 Jeep Liberty (3.7 L gas engine) failed after 40 K. ironically, this requires replacement of the entire master cylinder (cost $375). Would ignore problem, but this also deactivates the cruise control. Silly design in that a simple switch failure requires hydraulic system work.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. While turning the vehicle in any direction at low speeds, the vehicle would began to shake and the transmission would shift from first gear into neutral. The contact did not notice any differences in the vehicle prior to the failure. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current mileage was 35,600 and failure mileage was 32,000.
