The three stop lights all come on for awhile, maybe five minutes, maybe all night, and then shut off for awhile. Then they will do it again with no one around the vehicle. If I don't watch it, the battery will run down. Larry Smith Jeep, dealer where I purchased the Jeep, has been unable to fix the problem. The Jeep was in twice and they told me the brake, stop light switch was bad, so they replaced it. That did not fix the problem, so they told me the switch was bad, and they replaced it again, and of course they charged me for the switch. My wife saw that the lights were on again. I made an appointment Wednesday morning to have the Jeep repaired. I did not hear from them Wednesday or Thursday, so just before closing on Thursday, I called them. They told me the Jeep had never been looked at, it was still waiting in line to get in. Someone has put a special clamp on the negative battery terminal with a bolt sticking straight up. The negative cable does not have a clamp on the end, just a steel plate with a hole in it. This plate goes over the bolt, and you put a nut on the bolt to hold it in place. This is their way of addressing the problem, but it does not fix it. When I bought the Jeep from them, they did not tell me this Jeep has a problem.
My wife likes the Jeep, and I like Jeeps, I have three of them now. This is the first one I have a problem with that I can't seem to fix.
