The ac quit blowing cold air on one hot summer day. Took the vehicle to dealer and they said the compressor is not working and it takes $1200 to fix the compressor. Also, the blower does not blow air until the knob is turned to number 3. Jeep sucks as they have very poor design on the a/c blower and compressor along with the window glass regulator/lift plate.

Had the compressor clutch fail. I replaced the whole compressor this time. Back in 2014 the electromagnet coil that engages the clutch failed and had to replace it. I smelt a burnt plastic smell both times the AC quit. I have also had the normal problems like Ignition cylinder shaft shattered, 3 window repairs, 6 speed shifter completely fell off while driving, blower motor, rear upper ball joint three times.... There's more that I can't remember right now.. I bought this Jeep new off the lot and have regretted it ever since 40k miles. Never a Chrysler product again for me. I just drive my 200k+ mile Infiniti that never breaks down on me.

THIS HAPPENED LAST JUNE BUT I HAVE NOT HAD THE FUNDS TO FIX IT. JUST GOT A QUOTE LAST FRIDAY AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $480 JUST FOR PARTS...THE WINDOWS DROP ALSO. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 OF THEM FOR $175 A POP. THIS JEEP ONLY HAS 76000 MILES ON IT AND THE WAY IT IS GOING I WOULD BE BETTER TO TRADE IT OFF AND GET SOMETHING ELSE.

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty. I've had 4 windows replaced, 2 lights fixtures replaced. Shorted out. Now air is not working. Replaced regulator on fan. Had just put a hitch on back a recall. I hope this is not a compressor. Do not recommend no one buying a Jeep. They fall apart.

The blower motor first started to not work on 1, then 2 and then stopped working in 3; only 4 would work. The dealer wanted over $150 to fix. I researched online where others experienced same problem. I found the right part and paid someone to install for me. $20 part $50 Labor.

The A/C stopped blowing cold air at 50,000 miles. I have never had a car A/C go out that quickly. I thought it just needed to be charged; however, I've had 3 mechanics tell me that the compressor needs to be replaced and quote me anywhere from $1200-$1500 to replace. I've called Jeep several times and they always tell me that no one else has complained about this problem, to which I replied, I can't believe that!

I've had numerous other issues with this piece of crap and am not impressed at all by Jeep products and I will NEVER buy another Jeep!! I also tell my friends & family about it every chance I get.

The A.C. in my 2006 Jeep Liberty stopped blowing cold air 4 years after I bought it. Bought it new in 2006. I don't often drive this Jeep because of the poor gas mileage, but that I can live with it. This was NOT covered under warranty due to being 1 year out of the 3 year warranty. The mechanic that repaired it told me he has replaced these compressors in this year range before. Called the dealer and the 800#. NO problems recorded, NO RECALL. Thanks for buying Chrysler Jeep. Anything else I can help you with today?

Chicago 100+ day and air goes fantastic! Then a full week of 90+ . Thinking a simple recharge would be required but I am being told a new compressor for $700 is required (rip off ..I maybe blonde but I am not stupid!!). Then friend came by said the clutch part of the compressor is what is wrong. He also tells me mechanics/dealerships like to replace the whole compressor in fear of the clutch not working. We are now trying to get the part.

I bought the car 2007 (garage kept) as my winter car...since then 3 windows dropped ,and too much more to list....car is heap of junk. I am so ticked at myself for buying this car. I have owned 2 grand cherokees, dodge charger hemi ( current car), sebring and a crossfire over the past 14 yrs. I understand they design parts to have some sort of failure per an engineer that I spoke to who no longer designs for them. But they must have designed the car as a failure too. I do not think I will be purchasing another product again unless they bring back the mercedes engineers from the crossfire team...which is not obviously going to happen. I would trade the junk in but no one wants them. now it is a full time winter run to the ground mobile.....UgH!!! :'(

Jeep Dealership in Del Rio TX replaced AC compressor(#1) it took over a week to get the part in stock to do the repair.

The AC stopped working within 2 weeks and the Del Rio dealership replaced the compressor (#2) again on

July 26, 2012 60, 599 mileage and again (#3) on September 10, 2012 62, 578 mileage. Del Rio Jeep dealership assured me the warranty started again each time the part was replaced.

Air Force moved us to Tucson AZ where the AC stopped working again in November and Tucson Jeep dealership said compressor was fine, shrader valves needed replacing ($300 + dollars) in early December 2012.

March 22, 2013 the AC stopped again and compressor #4 was installed by Tucson Jeep. Was informed that warranty did not start again with each replacement compressor and would end at 12,000 miles from installation of #1 compressor. Was also informed for the first time that I had not been receiving a NEW compressor at any of the past repairs as they were no longer made. All that could be bought was re manufactured compressors for the Jeep Liberty.

April 2013 AC stopped working and Tucson Jeep said it was condenser, not compressor. $1,300 was the estimate to repair. Took to local AC shop where mechanic said condenser was fine, compressor was problem. Took back to Tucson Jeep, talked to head mechanic who agreed compressor was blown and #5 was installed under warranty.

May 2013...guess what, AC stopped working. Tucson Jeep suggested replacement of entire AC system for major$$$ Compressor was still under warranty. Had Tucson Jeep replace compressor #6 and local AC mechanic shop replace the rest of the new AC for less than half than Tucson Jeep estimate.

June 2nd the AC stopped working again. Compressor has blown fluid all over engine. Tucson Jeep says my warranty is no longer valid and I will have to pay for the repairs. It was 115 in Tucson yesterday.

I think it is time to investigate the Lemon Law and contact Jeep Headquarters. Has anyone had any experience similar to this?

Two mechanics have told me the problem is the AC compressor needs to be replaced. This happened 7,000 miles after my warranty ran out. This was my first, and last, Jeep because I have never had a major problem like this happen at such low mileage with any other vehicle I have owned! I really liked my Jeep at first, but can't afford to get such a major repair done - that is why I bought a newer vehicle with low mileage so I had something reliable. Hard to drive around in AZ heat with no AC!!!

When I took my Jeep in to get the a/c fixed there were three other Jeeps sitting there ranging from Jeep 2006-2010 with all the same problem. I live in a small city of Alvin Tx., so what are the odds of seeing that many Jeep Liberties in one week with all the same problem. Then to top it off the a/c man who fixed my Jeep ( was an outside contractor) because Jeep wanted me to pay twice what he was asking to get the same job done. In todays' economy I have to watch each and every single penny that leaves my pocket. Anyway, he also told me that he has had a lot of Jeep Liberties in there with the same problem.
