The check engine light on dash became illuminated full time. It should shut off after starting the vehicle. The very next day my husband took the Jeep to our mechanic. The engine seized up in his driveway. We need a replacement engine. I am very unhappy with this vehicle and look
forward to unloading it after the new engine is in and it is running well. I am going back to Ford or Nissan.
In May 2015 the engine seized/failed on my 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited which had 132,026 miles. Apparently, this is common for Jeeps this old and with many miles on them. A remanufactured engine installed was about $4,500; not worth it.
This Jeep died. I took it to the Jeep Dealer located in North Augusta SC 29841. They led me to believe that all I needed was for their "Factory Trained Mechanic" to fix my engine by replacing the Timing Belt. The Dealer returned a non-running car to me stating that after they had worked on it, it now needed a new engine. I paid them $800 +_ and retrieved the broken POS. I took the Jeep to a local mechanic and I am having a rebuilt engine installed. Jeep/Chrysler should be urged to file for Bankruptcy as this company is not worth saving again. This vehicle is a complete disaster and would not even make a decent artificial reef. I think that the managers of Chrysler and this local dealer are............................!!!!!
